Yo runners , and welcome to week 2 of the quest for September...... How are you all doing on your goals and plans? If we believe, we achieve..... the mental aspect of running is a huge part of reaching our goals. So go out there, get your sassy boots on and nail them!!

I love this pic, its a good demonstration of the creation of something fun that defy s convention ( my motto in life!).

What is the Quest ?:-

The Quest takes one month . You can join any time, within those weeks.

The main aim of the Quest is to help you find a focus or goal that you would like to achieve by the end of the Quest period.

I ask that you will be a Graduate to join the Quest. The main reason I ask this, is that while you are doing the programme, your plan is very structured, so I wouldn't want the Quest to interfere with that.

Most popular goals are:-

To run three times a week

To slowly increase distance

To get a new PB

To train for a specific race

To add In strength, weights, core.... other....

As you can see they are personal to yourself and it's totally your own choice.

Every week I will pin a new post, where all the members of the Quest can talk about how things are going.

So if you wanted to join all you have to do is put;

I would like to join the Quest, or count me in, and then I would like to. ..............

At the end of the Quest, there will be a certificate that you can download to keep.

Wishing you a happy, healthy and safe week.

Hi Ju, writing this with my right calf on ice and elevated 😯.....but...

Happy to report that my Sassy September has been going well...

Last week I ran twice a 4k and a quick 5k and had a lovely 6k walk at the Devil's Punchbowl. So target met.

I just ran a 5k this morning, and have been taking tips from Pinkaardvark and Flick about engaging the glutes while running which is speeding me up... I pushed a bit hard on this mornings run though and almost at the end, felt a ping in my calf which was then tender to walk on. I just about finished my run, but it wasn't a happy ending, so lesson learned. Back to slow and steady for me!

Need a few days rest before I go again, but hopefully will walk it off.

Happy Questing everyone😊xxx

Wouldn’t mind hearing more about engaging the glutes Pinkaardvark and Flick have shared Bluebird. I’m sure my glutes would welcome some engagement. πŸ˜‚

Happy resting before continuing your slow and steady quest! I love slow and steady! How wonderfully peaceful that sounds! 😁❀️

4/7 days of yoga, so that fits the bill.

No swimming

One run to get me my cakestand medal - I'd forgotten I'd managed to shoehorn that into a crazy week!

Picked up a cold now.

Everyone is getting colds, I think its the change in weather. I hope you feel better soon.....

Spending days going backwards and forwards on a tram might have something to do with mine. However, nice soft hankies, lots of moisturiser on the schnoz, lots of lip balm and plenty of fluids are jolly good. A sneeze is quite a nice thing so long as your pelvic floor's in reasonable nick!

Hi ju-ju... so far so good on my Sept Quest, been running every other day and have managed a total of 35km so far, so on track for the 100k target.

And doing these runs following a HM plan, which was part 2 of the quest. Aim to get to HM distance around the end of Nov.

Finally (part 3) have not yet started proper strength training but am on holiday this week doing lots of walking and swimming (as well as the runs) which will do until I get back home πŸ˜€

That sounds pretty good to me, well done you!!

Not been feeling 100% for a few weeks. My quest is just to run and see how it goes, allowing myself to cut a run short if I need to. Did 5k today, aim to run 2 more times this week (fingers crossed)

ju-ju- profile image
ju-ju-Graduate10 in reply to Goforitmama

I like that approach, then you arent setting yourself to fail. I hope you feel better soon :)

I’m a graduate not once but twice and still not a consistent 3 x a week runner and so that is my goal : to run 3 times every week.

ju-ju- profile image
ju-ju-Graduate10 in reply to RoRoMama

You are still running.... dont beat yourself up and yes run 3 times a week even if some are just tiny. Getting the routine is the important bit, well done :)

RoRoMama profile image
RoRoMama in reply to ju-ju-

Sometimes the obvious passes me by. Why didn’t I think of that? So today I took your brilliant advice - I went out for my run having de used it would be a 20 rather than a 30 minute one. Slam dunk. Thank you Ju-Ju for your excellent advice xx

Hi Juju

September going well so far. Having fun / 3 runs a week / volunteering at Parkrun this Saturday / run my first 10k race this Sunday / been experimenting with step rate for a couple of runs (used the Stamina podcast for the first time today)...πŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒ

I had a bit of a health hiccup last month so these are my August goals again. I graduated in July and can now run 5K but in nowhere near 30 minutes (I know who cares but I think I should be able to achieve this - maybe not this month though...)

my goals are

1) run 3 times a week - so far so good

2) find something to do on rest days - struggling with this

3) start Ju Ju’s 10k plan - on week 2, fingers crossed

4) do 2 parkruns 0 so far - plan first on Saturday

Good plan, and speed can come later if you choose!! There is no rush ( pardon the pun!!!) :)

Thanks ju-ju- I'm slowly getting faster (bit of an oxymoron there!) , just enjoying running again

Hi Ju-Ju, my quest is to carry on B210K consolidation for the next 2 weeks with 4/5/10K runs. πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ Then in the final week I’m doing Switchback 5 (5 mile/8K) cross country run πŸ˜€ so I’ll adjust my other runs to make my total up to 19K for the week. πŸ™‚

The Switchback 5 will hopefully give me my first running bling, πŸ…provided I finish the course! 🀞🀞

Hi Ju

Well I managed my three runs last week - a 2.5k intervals session, a 5k and a nearly 8k at the weekend - despite the madness that is back to school week for a teacher. And have run 6k after work this evening so am starting this week as I mean to go on 🀨

Not sure about these darker evenings though...

Fabulous450 profile image
Fabulous450Graduate10 in reply to DebJogsOn

I’m with you there Deb! It’s getting dark earlier and it will be my first winter running. I might have to revert to the gym and treadmill sometimes. Maybe I’ll get used to it. 😬❀️

DebJogsOn profile image
DebJogsOn in reply to Fabulous450

I completed C25K in early November last year so did all my consolidation runs through the winter mostly on cold dark and often wet evenings as I never run inside. Oh and there was snow several times! But what I really hated was the all the mud which pretty much kept me on tarmac even when l could run in the light.

Still I stuck at it - and am determined to keep going this winter too - though have promised myself some trail shoes...every cloud eh? πŸ˜‚

Fabulous450 profile image
Fabulous450Graduate10 in reply to DebJogsOn

Ooh Deb that’s actually good to know. I’m a bit fearful of the dark nights. But you’re right it’s probably still going to be busy out there until really late at night or really early in the morning. Thank you!! 😍❀️

I graduated whilst on holiday on 23rd August....returning back was tough as I have been focused on getting the family routine sorted. Plan to resume regular running on 13th Sept.

I'm joining the September quest with 2 goals:

1) Run 3 times a week

2) Complete 5k before end of September.

This picture is speaks a 1000 words!!!

Good luck to me and everyone else with their September quest!!

Seeing as I reached my target of running 10k in under 50 mins on the first day (48:35) I need a new one. I think I'll now aim for 100km this month.......

Have only managed 1 run so far in Sept. The humidity of Florida was too oppressive for running. Back to work routine is manic. On top of it all I now have a stinking cold 🀧 in Sept! Very frustrating!

Unfortunately I'm going to have to put my goal to one side. I was hoping to reach HM distance but I am having trouble with my right knee and now my hip has joined in the chorus. It's really frustrating as it really didn't feel like I was pushing too hard but possibly combined with my work as well it's just been too much. I got to 11 miles so I know I can get there, I'm just going to have to back up and work back up to it.

We're going on holiday at the start of October and have booked 5 days of cycling so I need to be in full working order for that too. Bit worrying really but everything crossed πŸ€žπŸ˜”
