I have just completed the Prospect Run the Rainbow 5k at Lydiard Park. 🌈😁😁😁😁!
Today was the ultimate run for me. The reason I started running was about the realisation that I’ll be 50 next year and how lucky I am to have lived so long. I thought with a heavy heart about how I miss my brother Tony ,who passed away 5+ years ago at just 46 years old. He was such a laugh! Such a pest and such a big part of our lives that so much joy was lost without him to tease his 5 sister’s and quite frankly be a royal pain in the arse. He absolutely loved that role. 🤨 Waaay too much! 🤣!
Today was all about living though and reminiscing and being grateful for those memories of laughter and joy!😍 He would be proud that I started running because of him and he would certainly tell me he did me a huge favour, “as usual” (cheeky beggar! 🤣)
Today, I felt his presence every step of the way. I have completed the run of my life and no matter how much further, faster or better I run in the future this will always be the best run I’ve ever done!! 😭 I don’t have any idea what my time was, as they didn’t do timing and I was so busy in tears at the end for what this meant to me, I hadn’t even realised the run had ended. And then I forgot to stop my app. But you know what? It really doesn’t matter! I ran!! I ran and I ran!! 😭😭😭😍And I have bling too! 🌈🥇😭! These are the happiest tears I’ve shed in years! I did it! Was it a PB?? Oh yes!! 😍✊🏽

Thanks so much ju-ju! It’s such a great feeling!! I’m a runner!! 😱 My son was way ahead of me. I think around 8th back, but I was doing my race and that was exactly how I planned it. He was there to welcome me home!! 😁❤️
He’s very good. He came to wait for me on my graduation run too! He knew I would be emotional and always ready with a huge hug!! Children are amazing!! 😍❤️
Oh bless that’s so lovely..... boys are so lush aren’t they? I think it really helps the relationship when you run with them too. It’s deffo made us closer as we’ve been running together for 5 years now.
They are!! I’m sure girls are too! I only have boys though. My older son was at a martial arts event today, otherwise it would have been a complete family affair! 🤣 Maybe next year! 😍❤️

Aah thank you so much Mummycav!! I do hope he’s reading these posts too!! 🤨 He is very lucky to have me!! 🤣🤣🤣! He did say how much he loved me before he left and I’ll always hold that memory dear. 😍❤️

Many of us know how you feel & started running for our sanity/health too. My mum's early death from Alzheimer's in Jan 17 propelled me into being fitter before I reach 50. I often have tearful moments at the end of landmark runs too!

Just the absolute amazement that I was achieving my vision. 😲 I’m sure our loved ones would be proud that losing them has brought something positive into our lives! They have meant something and when your life has meant something after we are gone, that’s a life well lived!! 😍❤️

He sounds like he was a lot of fun, if not sometimes trying 😆, to be around. It's events like these and reminders of why we started running that helps to bring the memories back to the forefront of our minds, putting huge smiles back on our faces.

What a wonderful post Fabulous450 - so moving, you made me well up! I remember running the Bristol 10k a couple of years ago, in memory of my dear Mum, so I know how emotional it can feel. Thanks so much Sandra!! I knew from graduation that I would be ready and that was an emotional day too. Today was the vision come true and the emotions of absolute joy was so what he would have wanted. It’s been a while, but I do miss him like it was yesterday. Perhaps if he had been a little less charismatic (another word for pestering!) the quietness without him wouldn’t be quite so quiet! But I can still laugh about the memories!! 🤣❤️
