I've been feeling a little (lot) 'meh' over the last few days. I last went for a run on Sunday, ground out five k and hated every step and generally felt a little deflated. I had an awful night's sleep on Sunday night, (ever been woken up from lucid dreaming? Honestly, it's like reality unravelling around you. Horrid.) And so, I felt drained all day. I blamed this on hormones (horrid little blighters) and thought I'd be on for a nice 5-6 k run on Tuesday. Not so! Got up feeling like I was running on fumes, and feeling a little cold/fluey so I dosed up and got on with my day, and just drifted through Tuesday and Wednesday, hoping to go out today. So, got up, did the school run, took the missus out and when we got back, I swear it was like a motivational advert. Shorts - ON! Headphones and associated gubbins? - FOUND! Shoelaces - TIED! And off I went out I to the drabness. I changed up my route, heading once again into the woods, (I also did my first run on Zombies, run! Was quite surreal, my surroundings strangely echoed what the podcast kept saying) down to the local ruins and back, before swinging back through the village and down my usual longer route past the local primary. I even managed to push on to 6k, (last time I thought I'd done six, was more like 5.4 or so) and felt great! And the playlist...
Well apparently, I now know how to 'get up my bad self', that it's hip to be square, (I'm round. Meh, close enough) I have the eye of the tiger, I have listened to the final countdown, (nothing happens at the end, sorry to spoil the suspense) *mumble mumble* something about the boys of summer *mumble mumble*. I also know that you shouldn't stop me now (or at all. I find it difficult to get started again), I am in fact as hungry as a lupus (thats a wolf, by the way. They sound REALLY hungry) that I had a hand in building a city, specifically THIS one, and that my run route is, in fact, the highway to the danger zone. Didn't look too dangerous to me, although I do understand I could trip, and perhaps graze my knees. Or my hands. Or get videoed and it end up on YouTube.
All in all a great run but I'm cream crackered now! Oh, and my right knee hurts. It's not popped, fallen off or in fact made a strange noise and ended up with bones sticking out of it, so I'm not worried.
Happy running everyone. 😄
