Week 3 of the Magic from Juju...

Just in from my 3.5Km run. As advertised, I did the hill, well 1.75Km of it - it goes on for at least another 2Km, and then turned round. Apart from a few vehicle-avoidance hedge-hiding events, it was a nice run. The watch says 63.3 meters elevation gain.

Flick is right, embrace the hills, they are always going to be there, and you can't avoid them forever.

So Thursdays 7Km? Start the same route and carry on? I'll need to psych myself up for that.

Finally a question...

I am leaving at least 48 hours between runs. When can I start running every day? Can I do, say 2Km jogging on my offdays yet?

Hills are good for us and make us stronger runners. Keep going!

On the running every day question, you really need to build your running body and that can take about a year. Out fitness levels improve much faster than our musculature and if we do too much too soon then we get injured ☹️

Use your rest days to build a stronger body by doing weights and other strengthening work. It really does support the running thing.

I've been running for five years and still don't run every day. Although having said that I haven't tried! Everyone is different and you could try but I'd say not yet. Be patient and build that body!

Trouble is, I detest exercises at home or in a gym. That's why I never did any for 50 years. I can get up and run - easy. But get up, roll about on the floor etc... 😱

What, you don't ever roll about on the floor? Foam roller, balls, planks, bridges, curls.......you don't know what you're missing ....😉

Well done on embracing that hill, oldfellow! Good luck for the 7k on Thursday. I’m very impressed that you’re already asking about wanting to run every day!! 😳😃❤️🏃‍♂️😎

Hello theoldfellow, I remember responding to this yesterday but it must have gone into that black hole again. Well done on battling that hill of yours. I think anyone who lives in the Lakes must have a certain fitness just for walking in every day life. Not like us soft south coasters. Good luck with the rest of your week. 🗻🏔🏃‍♂️

Thanks. Tomorrow I am going to try 7Km starting with that 3.5Km climb (Tuesday's 1.75, plus the rest). I may then turn round and enjoy running 3.5Km down again, or carry on round the circuit - probably about 8.5Km, but I can walk the end as a warm down - it goes past the pub, but they are not open at 7:30am....

Prayers gratefully received!

Enjoy that run down again, or is that harder on the knees?
