Todayβs 9k went surprisingly OK. Decided to run from the gym, leaving workmen behind in the house ripping out our bathroom. (The gym has showers. Our house only has a kitchen sink and a toilet for the next 2 weeks! π³) Despite it looking pretty overcast, having to run late morning proved hot and humid. Very glad I took my hydration vest with me with 500ml in the bladder - I drank it all!
Decided to try the canal towpath for my run, but also discovered a wide, well-tarmaced βgreenwayβ route that must have been an old railway line. Will give that one a go for my short run / intervals, as the towpath was pretty narrow in places. (I was a bit worried Iβd land in the canal while letting bikes pass!)
For some daft reason, finishing at the gym meant I then decided to do a gym workout in my sweaty running stuff. Got home much later and rather worn out! ππ

So if Iβve got this right you went to the gym, ran 9k and then did a workout π³ No wonder you needed a shower π Excellent. You are one fit chick π
Well done, It is easy sometimes to forget just how far it is! Lovely pics tii, must find a canal path to run down, it looks like just my kind of territory, flat! ππͺππΌββοΈ
Thanks Steve - I certainly needed the water for that length. β€οΈ Once Iβve got to 10k Iβm hoping to work on consistent pace more, as I currently get gradually slower the longer I run for. Lovely and flat, though - and I discovered I do at least run faster than canal boats under motor! ππ
Decided to head away from Chester, Floss, as I thought it would be quieter. Lovely countryside that you donβt appreciate as much from the roads. πβ€οΈ
I prefer snail like to speedy MD. Much more enjoyable. I'm going to France for a week so I'm planning to run/crawl my 9km on my knees.... Here's hoping you won't need to embrace your inner skunk during the next 2 weeks
Think I probably look more like a machine in need of winding up by the end of 9k, Lorijay! A guy stopped and waited holding his dog just before I finished. He laughed when I apologised that I couldnβt get past him any faster at this point! πππ
Thanks - I just hate not using the gym once Iβve driven there! As Iβm going to be having showers there everyday, this could be a very active fortnight! ππ
You know, this is one reason I thought about swimming - we have frequent water outages and I have ended up showering at work one too many times, so I kept being near the swimming pool ... it was inevitable that I'd give it another go one day!
Your run and workout - I'm knackered reading about them! Pictures are lovely, what a nice place to run.
Thanks icklegui - yes, a lovely place to run. πββοΈβ€οΈπ
My husband will be showering at work for the next 2 weeks - Iβll just be going to the gym a lot! I used to swim regularly, but found I just stank of chlorine all the time then. Better than smelling of sweat I guess, but the only pool I use it at the gym, so I may as well use their showers once Iβm there...ππ
Great run and great photos too. I love canal boats - I used to clean the returning holiday boats as a Saturday job many years ago - occasionally we got to paint them - happy days!
There great, arenβt they. I went past quite a few moored up. All beautifully painted. Weβve an interesting boat museum nearby in Ellesmere Port, which has some fascinating old canal boats. πβ€οΈ
