I like to listen to something a bit faster in the 140-160bpm range. I've tried to put it into a spotify playlist, and now I just need to work out how to play it. One of the side effects of C25K & B210K for us oldies having to grapple with this new techie stuff...
My playlists range from cheesy pop to nirvana, blur, green day, faithless, kaiser chiefs 😂 Usually run to dance type stuff for ParkRun to spur me on 💪🏽
Sometimes if I'm on a long run a musical playlist just gets a bit wearing, but it's nice to give my ears something to lock onto—otherwise I really feel the kms passing! A pal recommended these particular podcasts, and they're unexpectedly compelling. There's about fifty of them so they'll keep me going a while!
Spotify has pre canned running playlists at varying tempos ie fun run 140-160bpm just type running into the search and choose. Useful if you cant be bothered building a play list.
Yep I tried those and found they didn’t work at all for me. The list I’ve made is stuff I’ve tried and know that it works. Too slow and I can’t hit the right pace, too fast and it doesn’t feel right. I’ve tried all of these on the flat, uphill, downhill and on the road. I’ve probably spent a bit too much time putting them together!
With bpms, it took me a while to figure out the tracks I liked running to were all around 140-160bpm, so I then started using apps and databases to find tunes I already had or liked enough to buy, then added them to a playlist and tried them on a run. Surprisingly even then a lot of tunes didn’t quite hit the spot. It’s probably taken me a few weeks to get to this mix by trial and error!
Anything around the 150-160 mark for me... I’m more of a rock fan but Taylor Swift ‘shake it off’ is really helping with mid-run motivation at the moment! 🤣
To be honest I just listen to music I like and that list is very varied. I have not got into the technical side of running and all this BPM malarky. I just run. An album by Bryde (relatively unknown) I absolutely love running to, but that is followed by Bobby Brown, C&C music Factory and Alanis Morissette, with Ed Sheerhan at teh end usually at warm down then
