So I did it...8k in 55/6 mins. I really wasn't sure I would be able to but I did. And I loved it. And at 6.5k I felt invincible and that I could carry on doing this all day (well maybe a little while longer π) Was very conscious of not going too fast so set a pace thing on Samsung Health app. Stupid woman kept telling me to speed up and was I not feeling well enough to run today?! Cheeky mare. Anyway I realised after she doesn't adapt to how you're running and builds in a warm up and cool down so the middle should be faster. Won't be using that one again!
Also used Strava for the first time which gave me a faster time than Samsung...which always gives me a faster time than my Fitbit. Either way...a bit faster than planned (although not as fast as Sam wanted) but did it, loved it and even stopped to take a quick pic π
Happy running folks πββοΈπββοΈ

Looks like a nice place to run Sarah... well done and I and love the bit "felt invincible and that I could carry on doing this all day"... that's the feeling I am always hoping for on a run, but it only sometimes comes along
Not quite as dramatic as the scenery youre used to Mike but quite pretty. Am.realising running longer means I am seeing bits of my local countryside I don't normally get to see! Good luck with your run...hope it goes well π
What a fantastic run! I absolutely knew you could do it, you've broken the back of the Magic 10K - I look forward to your graduation very soon. Consolidating the miles is highly recommended, so do what you feel. You'll probably find that on one of your runs you'll just want to keep running and hit that magic 10 without having pre-planned, might just happen despite you!
Glad I read the review on Samsung pacing, was set to try this today!
I'm re-testing my Fitbit as well. It's always performed poorly against Strava/MMR/Samsung, but in trying to resolve something else I discovered location was turned off, so it appeared GPS was working fine, even producing a map, but location setting was wrong.
Yesterday I did a short sprint and suddenly it come close - usually miles off. Strava: 2.6 / MMR: 2.51 / Fitbit: 2.54.
I'll see how it performs over a longer distance before getting excited though!
I've set my watch to show current pace but if distance is wrong, pace is wrong so it's been useless to date. Fingers crossed I've sorted it out. π€π€π€
Good luck for your upcoming runs, just take your time and you'll sail through that ticker tape!!!
Thanks lovely! I never thought i would want to run longer... I blame you lot! But am enjoying it more than I thought I would. Especially seeing the countryside that comes with having to find longer routes.
Let me know how you get on with the Fitbit. Mine is always about 200m less than Samsung and pace always out by 15s. But just used it as.a guide yesterday to check pace when stupid Samsung woman was telling me to go faster! Forgot to stop the Fitbit though until I got home so couldn't check the difference.
