Hello Runners

Well it’s fair to say I was feeling a little bit lost and without intention joined the B210K! I had lots of encouragement and a warm welcome! Thank you! 😍!

After lots more thinking, I consulted with the human compass (never fails πŸ˜‰)! I started this journey never thinking I can run. Look at me running regularly. That’s in just 4 months. I also signed up for a charity run in September and it was just a dream to run that race, but I thought I’d like to at least run some! Well, I’ve decided not to join JuJu programme right now, but I’m going to do everything I can to be running all the way in that charity!

So with β€œback to fun” firmly on my mind (its worked well so far), I set out to the park where the race will be. Having done the run with Equi a couple of weeks ago, I knew it was twice round the circuit plus I had my app - everything tracked!πŸ˜‰

β€œCome On Fabulous450! We’re going to do 5k today”! And 5.01k I did! In 37 minutes! And I feel epic! That’s 6 whole minutes faster than my first parkrun! 😱! So a PB and a refocused mind! Weight loss is the big goal now to put the icing on my 50 years celebration cake next year! Thank you for listening to my ramblings of confusion! I’ve found my way home!! 🏑 😁😁❀️

Good for you. Fun is where it’s at. And to be realistic, it was a little early to go for 10k so soon after completing c25k, but your 5k time is brilliant so you are well on your way x

Thanks Blue!! πŸ˜‰β€οΈ

Yay! I think enjoying your running is definitely the key. For me it's an escape from all the stresses of work and a busy life if it becomes hard work it defeats the object of running in the first place.

Run what makes you happy 😊

Yes Deb it was feeling a bit stressful thinking about what’s next.....then lightbulbπŸ’‘β€œGirl....just run and have fun, the rest will show up”!! And it sure did! ❀️

Well done Fabulous! You’re right about the rest showing up when it needs to. Stay sound and enjoy the September run :) I’ve been daft enough to enter something a bit longer so have to push on with that goal as motivation but after October I’m freeing up a bit and just going to enjoy it for a while πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»

Was that another Stag Weekend drunken-haze stumble? See what you ended up with? Flying around like a gazelle!!

LoungeLizaard
LoungeLizaardGraduate10 in reply to sallenson

lol, no. I was consolidating before I went on hols, managed a 5.5k. Tried for 6k on holiday, that was ok. A week later (last week) did 7k. Going slower and the distance isn't easy, but I'm getting there. 8k tonight (hopefully!)

Good decision Fabulous, not everyone is in a rush to move on. I'm still hanging around between c25k and b210k and quite content to stay there as long as I need to. In fact I may never move on, as long as I am getting out there 3 times a week and enjoying parkrun. Nobody has told me I can't be here , so I think it's still OK to keep up with everyone on this forum. Having a race in September is a good target for you. Enjoy. πŸ˜€πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸ‘

(I'm on the PC, not my phone so have had to copy TM's emojis).

Fabulous450
Fabulous450Graduate10 in reply to Dexy5

Thank you Dexy!! We continue to adjust and still getting out there running! A short while ago that was a pipe dream, so we have every reason to be very happy indeed!

(Thanks for the emoji’s too! πŸ˜‚)! ❀️

You sound like my kind of person Dexy, I completed C25k a month ago, have done a couple of parkrun sans, am able to do 6.5k now, but not sure I’ll do much more- the 3x a week at that level seems to work for me!

Dexy5
Dexy5Graduate10 in reply to LouiseW_NI

I would’ve used my age as an excuse but I now know that there are people on this forum who have proved that age is just a number . Well done for getting up to 6.5k Louise. πŸ‘

Brilliant! Well done πŸ‘

Well done Fab .. I decided to do 10k plan after my distance naturally crept up to 8!

I think you are totally right you have to enjoy your runs and not make it a chore. Having goals is a great motivator but it can also demotivate if we try and stretch too much too quickly.

Fabulous as ever Fabulous450 love your posts, and great to see you having fun again. I think I am still wandering around in the post C25K wilderness wondering what I want to do next!

Fabulous450
Fabulous450Graduate10 in reply to Berksrover

πŸ‘‹πŸ½ Hey Berksrover, I figure if we just keep getting out there in the wilderness we will find our way. This run as you please requires a different mindset for me. So I had to get my own head around what I want running to add to my life. You can’t beat a bit of running for feeling achieved even when you don’t know if you want to go! You will always come back a better version of yourself, no matter what happens out there. The funny thing is you usually come back having completely surpassed where you thought you were! Let’s just keep doing that! πŸ™ŒπŸ½πŸ™ŒπŸ½πŸ™ŒπŸ½β€οΈ

Berksrover
BerksroverGraduate10 in reply to Fabulous450

As ever Fabulous450 you are right, the feeling of achievement after a run is the drug that keeps me going lol. For me, running has been a means to an end, a way to get fitter and to help lose weight, both of which are going well, but I also want running to be enjoyable and a lot of the time it is, I just want to up the proportion. Whatever happens, I can't imagine life without running now! πŸƒπŸΌπŸ˜

Too darned right you are Fabulous! πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

Well done on the pb! Truely epic! Interesting to read about your thoughts on fun/10k. I’ve been having a mojo v gremlins battle whilst recovering from my rib injury. One part of me says β€˜you need to keep improving/achieving so you need to run further/faster’. Another part says β€˜what’s wrong with sticking around 5k, having fun, fitting running into the rest of my life rather than letting it take over completely?’ I’ve been watching some of my contemporaries doing amazing things and feeling slightly envious, but i’m glad that it sounds like i’m not the only one who is hanging around the 5k bike sheds...!

Fabulous450
Fabulous450Graduate10 in reply to Pippayoungart

I’m in the shed with you Pippa! No doubt about that. I definitely admire the 10k goal and achievers (and certainly wouldn’t say never), but I’m happy with 5k. It’s a bit like that amazing realisation of feeling bored running around my starting β€œLittle Park” nearby my home. When the excitement and feeling of achievement starts to dull, I’ll seek to go further naturally. Taking 30 - 50 minutes out of a day is pretty awesome, so whatever I can do in that time won’t be in danger of becoming a chore. I don’t feel it’s boring or repetitive yet. Far from it! A new experience every time. I’m really not sure where I would even be running for 10k either πŸ€”, but if it needs to happen, I’m sure I’ll find a way!

We’re doing just great!! 😁❀️

Your Fabulous enthusiasm is contagious, I feel like I want to get my runners on and get out there! πŸƒπŸƒπŸ˜Š I would but I ran last night πŸ™„

Well done on your PB, that’s a big chunk of your previous time πŸ‘πŸ‘

Get the Charity run out of the way then look at your options, that’s what I did 😊

The weight will come off without having to diet, I’ve lost a stone in 10mths purely down to my running and strength exercising, I was a virtual couch potato before, just did a little walking πŸšΆβ€β™€οΈ

Good luck on your Charity Run, and expect to do another PB πŸ€—

Fabulous450
Fabulous450Graduate10

Oh thank you so much Ted! It’s great to hear your journey! Yes, my charity 5k is close by now, so I’m going to keep that vision in mind! I’m so looking forward to it now too!! 😁❀️

Well done Fab. Check you out smashing PB's ! Superb!.

Fabulous450
Fabulous450Graduate10 in reply to Forestgrump

Thanks Forestgrump! 😱 I know!! It was like graduation all over again when I realised I was going to do it in the 37 minutes. No further running on required!! 😁❀️

Ooh well done you! What a fabulous feeling to get to 5K *and* do it in such a quick time πŸ˜€ It sounds like you know exactly what you want, and are doing the right thing for you - and as you say, the speed and distance may start to happen without you really noticing. And even if they don't, that doesn't matter if you are enjoying it ❀️

Fabulous450
Fabulous450Graduate10 in reply to Eiralas

Definitely Eiralas! I can honestly say I’m feeling on a running high again now! Just staying with the fun factor and not getting too technical about it is a relief. Of course I love doing better, who doesn’t? But my conclusion is that we are always better in some way every time we go out there. Love that! ❀️
