Stupid question ..

This might be a stupid question but I’m planning to run early tomorrow and the forecast is heavy downpours. I don’t mind running in the rain but don’t know what to wear! Too warm to wear my running jacket so do I just go in my usual shorts and vest and put up with getting soaked? Your thoughts please !

Yes I will! Running by the river so mainly on a gravelly / grassy path so should be ok x

Agree with Oldlfoss get wet and enjoy the moment. If you have hybrids I find they are good when the going is wet. I've just been out for a quick 4k as I'm away and can't do my usual long run tomorrow and it was fab running in a really heavy downpour. Enjoy your run😁

Thanks I will. Still running in my original sauconys - really need some trail shoes - what do you recommend ?

I went for a Brooks Cascadia but it's really worth giving them a try as the Mizuno I thought would be great were just to hard on the road but would have been great trail only.

Yes, I really need something that would be good for both as my routes, living in a city? tend to involve a bit of both.

Not a stupid question sarah65, HoagyM asked exactly the same thing 2 days ago. Lots of replies on there if you want to check it out...💦☔️🏃‍♀️

Yeah, same sort of conclusion reached as you have here, Sarah. As it happens, apart from a shower that lasted all of 2 minutes during my long run yesterday, I have still not yet run in the rain, so that experience us yet to come 😀

Go for it.👍

If you develop webbed feet, then maybe think again.🤔🙈😂😂

Enjoy it all as long as you feel comfortable.💥🏃‍♀️💥

Defo just get wet, the rain is your friend and will keep you nice and cool!

Yes you’re right. I’ve been dying of heat the past few weeks! 😊

I went out for a relaxed 12k this morning and the weather was perfect; constant rain with lots of wind! I loved it! Mud all over my legs and soaked through but best run in ages...!

I wear a light, short running jacket over my t-shirt. It's completely useless as I am just as wet afterwards as it gets wet on the inside. I love splashing along and I'm usually the only runner in the entire park. I did a cool, very wet 5km last night and had a hot bath when I got home. The one disadvantage is wet running shoes. It was fab. Enjoy it!

That’s an advantage then - I love that feeling of being the only one up and running and the splashing sounds fun! 🐥

That’s settled then. Will just enjoy getting wet, particularly after running in the heat for all these weeks. When I started C25K back in February I was running in wind, rain and snow and it was really dark in the mornings. I remember it was quite exhilarating with the rain on my face.

I’ve been spoilt really, running on these beautiful spring and summer early mornings by our beautiful river Taf - I was only thinking this week that I should really start appreciating it fully because it’ll be back to running on the dark, wet roads in a couple of months.

One thing that strikes me is what a privilege it is to be able to fully experience and appreciate the changing seasons on these early morning runs. Makes me realise what I was missing for all those years x
