Positively barmy

So, still on a high from my weekend 25 minute PB I thought I’d trot out and run a consolidating 5k last evening. Can’t be that hard, I thought in this weather. It’s positively balmy compared to the near 50 degrees back home. Got to 2km and oh my it got tough! Stopped 3 times to walk and almost gave up. I completely over estimated my ability to run in hot weather. Lesson learned! Take it easy out there folks!

I find it's the humidity here that's the killer especially when there is no wind. I'd hate to be doing c25k in somewhere like singapore.

Absolutely. The sweat was pouring off me at the end and I looked like a beetroot.

I sometimes run with a hat to keep the sun off the face but even though it's a light running one, it ends up saturated to the point that sweat drips off the brim like a rain gutter. Quite disturbing lol.

Hat is a good idea. The sweat is blinding when it gets in the eyes.

pink is right, it's the humidity.

I went out at 7am this morning hoping to do my 8k, got to 5k ok then really struggled, ran/walked for 2k. Anyway, well done for getting out. ☺

I appreciate your problem. After doing what felt like an effortless 10K early on Sunday morning, today I went out for a ‘little’ 5k run and struggled from the start. Scrapped the idea of it being an interval training session and dripped, stumbled, walked, drank and sweated over the 5k, ending up doing it in 3-4 minutes more than my usual time. It felt a tough run. Humidity is so challenging.
