Can’t keep waiting for conditions to cool, no end in sight of it cooling down. Not that I’m complaining, we’ve waited a long time for it 😎 It just doesn’t fit into my running schedule, too damn hot 😓 😎
Anyway, totally against the grain, I headed out at 6.45 this morning 😱 It was already 20* and rising so I got it into my head that it wasn’t going to be easy 😰
I set off with intention of doing around 10mls at an easy (slow) pace. I felt reasonably comfortable up to 3k after which the legs were starting to feel heavy! I thought ‘Oh no, please gimme a break, I REALLY NEED to get this long one in!’
I did my best to keep up the pace but found myself flagging in the heat....I’d have given anything to experience ‘the beast from the east’ just for an hour or so 😅
I decided I’d have to take walk breaks if I was to complete the course, long walk back if I stopped now!
I broke the run down into segments, which made it a bit easier as I shuffled along.
Hit the A40 and thought ‘Ah, only a couple of K to go’
Stopped watch at Spar and was pleasantly surprised I’d covered over 9.5mls 🤗..... I replaced ‘distance with timer’ on Garmin, so I can see how long I’ve been out opposed to the distance covered.... I prefer it that way now 😊
Couple of days off now. Happy running guys! 🏃🏃♀️
