Hi there and welcome to wk r

The sun is still shining, it is an amazing summer so far. I have never known anything like it in the UK.

As the sun is shining right now most of us will be finding little spots of shade as we run. It will be interesting to see at the end of the Quest if we are still looking for shade or ducking under the trees to ward off the rain. 😀.

Now, what has everyone been up to this week, and you can still join us if you have just Graduated and would like some motivation....

I do hope you will join me to chat and share your goals and challenges.

What the Quest is;

The Quest takes one calendar month . You can join any point within that time.

The aim of the Quest is to help you find a focus or goal that you would like to achieve by the end of the Quest period.

I ask that you will be a Graduate to join the Quest. The main reason I ask this is that while you are completing the programme, your plan is very structured so I wouldn't want the Quest to interfere with that.

Most popular goals are:-

To run three times a week

To slowly increase distance

To train for a specific race

To add In Stretch and Strength exercises

As you can see they are personal to yourself and it's totally your own choice. Each week, I will pin a new post where all the members of the quest can talk about how things are going.

So if you want to join, all you have to do is put;

I would like to join the Quest, or, count me in and then, I would like to. ..............

Your name will then be added to the top post and every week your name will be in the quest until the end.

At the end of the Quest, there will be a certificate that you can download to keep.

Strange week for me last week podiatry appointment got to the cause of my problems and I am getting custom made orthotics. When they arrive I have to learn to run again so it will be back to basics for me. I went for a 17km walk with my feet strapped up on Saturday and was in agony yesterday, I could hardly walk, so I know I have made the right decision to get it sorted now, just looking forward to them arriving.

Those new orthotics are going to make a real difference... I think a few of us will be back to basics!! :) xxx

Oooh.. 17k is a loong walk Rfc.. even without your foot problems.😯

Hope they are settling down again now.

Well I may not have managed any long distances but I have managed to do a faster 5km run each week, using Week 1 of C25K as a fartlek kind of thing, and got a PB of just over 27minutes the other day which was amazing. Because of the heat I've found distance quite hard so kept my target distance to 10km, but was pleased to get a PB for that last week too.

This morning I decided that making excuses about the weather was not on, and that I need to build my distance back up again, so set my goal for 11km, and will try and build on that. It seems strange to think that not so long ago I was managing 20km without too much of a problem.

I like that idea of using C25K as a fartlek programme Razouski . Might try that one myself! Enjoy your running 😊

Still on the IC... still cardio and strength training,swimming and cycling on my new bicycle :)

Aqua jog has not been sorted yet... I am hopeful though.. school hols have put it on hold at the pool!

On the non running side.. garden looks good and I have finished loads of my unfinished watercolours!

I do miss my runs though...

I'm hopeless on a bike Floss, I once braked quite hard at a speed bump and nearly went over the handlebars!

Also can only really let go with my left hand, so my right signal is very iffy😄😆xx And hills!!!😅😅😅

I'm happy and on track, pretty much.

Weight is random, so we'll see. Sort of right direction. I am trying not tracking intake and it doesn't seem to make things any worse.

Running, got 8.55kms to go, so that should be do-able.

Swimming, 1.25kms to go, again do-able

Yoga, just about OK for the 'more often than not'

Nice to have some things in my control as I warm up for my next 15 rounds with the local authority over my younger son...

Mixed bag again last week. Tried out the required Army distance/time - gave up with 400m to go because it was just too hot and I wasn't going as fast as I would have liked. No fast km for me last week ☹️

Managed kettlebells twice and had a lovely 10km run out with the club though so not a dead loss.

School hols have started so running (walking when he gets a mood on 😂) with my 13 year old son now so I doubt I'll manage another fast km but nevermind - my goal for the month was sub 5min and I've achieved that 😁

Hi fellow Questers,

I put some more kms onto my virtual FlaminGo challenge this week.

Two runs I was very happy with, I am including the warm up and down as the challenge is run, walk, cycle,swim and/or row as much as you like in July. I don't have a bike anymore and hubby not keen on swimming so its just runs and walking.

We did a 12.1k walk this week, and the Farnborough airshow was on. We got 'buzzed' by a jetplane while up on the rangers ...it was brilliant... so noisy!😃

My total kms are now 78.3 for July with one week to go....

I notice that some people doing this virtual challenge have already downloaded their results? The most is 350kms..

I have not had an 'actual' ice cream this week, but have enjoyed a couple of bowls of strawberries with ice cream on top😊...

I have done sit ups once....

I had a rough week last week - a wicked headache that lasted 2 days (I suspect it was hormonal 😟), followed by having to take the next day off of work due to vomiting (likely related to taking a pile of acetaminophen the day before trying to get through work). The cherry on top - I was also on call for most of the week. Despite all this, I took my one day off, drove out to the lake and had an epic trail run. So only 1 run last week, but it was a good one!

This week, I’m only on call tomorrow, will be going out for supper for my son’s birthday tonight but can hopefully still get 3 runs in (Wed, Fri, Sun 🤞). I’ll be heading out to the lake Thursday night or Friday morning so will get at least 1 trail run in.

Hello RFC, last week I did my usual 4k on the prom one evening, then 4k on a new run on a disused railway track, which was really nice but a bit warmer than anticipated ( we took refuge in a pub after). Then on Saturday we tried a different Parkrun where much to my surprise I got another PB. I’m very happy being where I am at the moment, and continue to help the British economy by purchasing new gear and now a Garmin Forerunner 35.

Well as feared at the start of the challenge July was going to be a difficult month to keep up with the routine. Back from holiday on Tuesday to a mountain of work. Saturday was spent baking and preparing for the arrival of my guests. Sunday a great family gathering (26 people) to celebrate my son’s 18th birthday. So other bits of life took priority and 0 runs competed. The me to refocus this week.

So true. I have developed bad habits (like not getting back to running) post holidays before so I need to get another few runs in July.

Last day of my FlaminGo July Quest with Virtual runner.

I have completed 13 activities of Run/walk and Walk and my total distance was 102.3km over 18.11 hours of activity for the month of July.

Now to submit my results and wait for the bling! Its a nice one 😊xxx
