Is it just Mondays?

I went out for a run this morning about 6:30 and felt absolutely awful. I dragged myself round for 3.2km and then gave up. Now at 9.00 I'm still feeling like dreadful - no energy, slightly nauseous, and just flat mentally.

This is unusual for me, especially after such a good Parkrun on Saturday.

I didn't feel that bad, but i did decide to do only 3.5k as it is so hot and humid that i was struggling for breath. I've learned to have a drink with electrolyte tablet dissolved in it BEFORE running at the moment, otherwise I'm increasingly faint and wobbly any distance above 6k.

I’ve also started drinking electrolyte drinks. Sometimes before, sometimes during (if I’m in the gym as outside I don’t take a drink) but most definitely after as, at times, I can feel awful after a run.

Too warm maybe..slight under hydration? Maybe a summer tummy bug?

It is unusual for you. You are normally so fresh and ready to go.

If it is any help..my 20 min cardio' and strength workout was hard going..even in the relative coolness of my studio!

Hopefully you will feel better as the day progresses.xx

I think I must have picked up a tummy bug as you say. Other symptoms have developed. A relief to know it wasn't the running.

Feel better soon.😚

I had one of those last week, which may have contributed to me feeling so faint post 12k run

12k would make me feel pretty faint. 5K is my max for now.

I was stupid and went under hydrated and with no water. Deserved to feel bad!

This happened to me on Tuesday! Don’t dwell on it - the next run will get you back on track. It’s normal to have bad runs - they make the good ones sweeter 👌🏽 Make sure you’re drinking enough water each day too 💪🏽 Keep running 🏃🏾‍♀️👍🏽

Sounds like you are tired.... and yes totally normal. Perhaps eat well today and rest before your next outing and see how you feel? I often get this and by the next day I feel totally different!

Mondays are usually bad for just that reason. I work on Sunday! But since I took up running Mondays have been much better. This does seem to be a tummy bug though.

Maybe I should change my running days? Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, would make Monday a recovery-from-Sunday day. I need to hit Saturday to make the local Parkrun.

They’re my usual running days so I can ParkRun. Get well!

Hope you feel better soon, Oldfellow. Seem to be so many bugs around at the moment. ❤️❤️

Sounds like every 3rd run for me at the moment. I just put it down to the weather and dehydration. I too zap a tablet - zero cals - in my bottle before a run and take with me. Apparently it is the previous days water intake that affects our hydration, not what you drink on the day if that makes sense. Did you drink plenty of water yesterday?

This is getting clearer to me now. Dehydration is definitely a candidate.

Thanks everyone for the support and suggestions. I love you all heaps.
