Getting there (And discovering Buffs)

Have been procrastinating like mad of late. Left a week between runs for various reasons last week and I really felt it when I went out again. Terrible! Had to keep stopping.

Weather hasn't been helping and I put yesterday's run off due to a busy and tiring weekend. Nearly put today's off due to weather and horrible period. BUT- I didn't.

Ended up doing just over 5.5k and my second fastest pace which I was really pleased with. I also got a buff type thing from a vegan runners group I'm in and someone advised soaking that in cold water and wearing as a head band.

Oh my goodness! It's a revelation!! I struggle with the heat and this really helps to cool me down. I probably look a bit stupid but who cares :)

I've also started mixing half a dioralyte rehydration sachet into my water before a run when it's really hot and that seems to help too.

If you're struggling with the heat maybe those things might help if you don't already know about them ๐Ÿ‘

Sometimes I feel so tempted to give up, especially when I feel like I'm not getting anywhere, but then I have days like today where I look back to where I was a few months ago and I can really see the benefits I have gained from sticking with this.

Hope everyone is having a good week ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™‚๏ธ

Great to read! I started to take an electrolyte drink for my longer runs too of late and really helped me. Thank goodness itโ€™s cooling a bit. ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Ok I admit it, not a clue what a buff was, have since googled and even watched a YouTube clip, thus running malarkey is certainly addictive!

Good idea - I try and run with wet hair when it is not - but when I row I dunk my cap in the water to help me keep cool - just never thought before to transfer it to running!

I've been using the wet cap routine recently, it's marvellous. I had to look up what a buff is and then realised I've got two of those from my skiing days ha ha. I'll stick to the cap just now as i like my eyes shaded without Sun glasses. But come the winter I'll be running in my buff (pun intended :)

I soak a buff and wear it loosely around my neck (like a necklace). The cool water on the back of my neck does wonders to cool me down. When it feels warm, I spun the buff a quarter turn and voila, it feels cold again. It is nice to have a cool cloth to wipe my sweaty face with as well. It was my solution to still wear my cap but find some use for the buff to help keep me cool during this heat.

I have so many Buffs. It's become an obsession. Did you know you can get ludicrously overpriced souvenir Buffs?! Suffice to say I've lately come home from the airport with a Barcelona collection Buff emblazoned with the architecture of Antoni Gaudi, and an Icelandic collection Buff covered in the northern lights. My boyfriend despaired for a while, but there's obviously something in it as the other day he came home with a Buff printed with leaves and pinecones for himself...

I like that idea! Souvenir buffs. I can already tell this one is the first of many. Will be o n the lookout for them now!

Iโ€™d just like it noted that I avoided making the obvious โ€œrunning in the buffโ€ joke because I am far better than that.
