Help!! New running watch!!

Hi! I’ve just splashed out on a new Garmin forerunner 235! (Birthday and Christmas for next few years!!!)

Anyway it has come with very little instruction on setting it up and I’m in process of charging it as I think battery must be completely flat! Nothing happens when I press on/ off button and it just shows garmin logo on screen! I’m unable to get into any sort of menu. Just thought someone might be able to advise. 😀

I’ve got one of those. After the Garmin logo the clock face should appear. You have to hold the on / off button down a few seconds.

You can get the manual online if it helps:

They are great once you get them switched on

Thank you! I think I probably have to be patient and let it charge for a while! I’m not getting anything on screen when I hold button down! Thanks for that link too! I couldn’t find that when I googled!! I’m a bit rubbish with technology until I get used to it!! New things stress me out ha ha!!! 😀

The instructions are a bit rubbish but the watches are great. Hopefully a few hours charge will fix it. Good luck.

I have one of these too. He's called Garmo. I'll be honest, he wasn't the most intuitive to set up and operate at first, and can be a little temperamental at times, but can't we all? I soon got used to the way garmin do things. I've never once regretted splashing out on him and he's definitely helped me go further and faster with confidence.

I bought the better half a 235 earlier in the week. It came part charged and just needed turning on to be honest.

Once battery got to about 18% it started working! 😀👍

Charge it fully and go online for the full instructions:)

Thank you! Yes it’s fully charged now and I’m gradually getting to grips with it!! 😀

Glad to hear you got it sorted. I was the same when I got my Fitbit. Expected it to show something when initially switched on and nothing. Like you it eventually sorted itself out, but not before a lot of stressing!

I had a Fitbit flex 2 and this is a big upgrade for me! It’s great having a screen on my wrist now!! 😀

I went from the Charge HR to the Blaze and that's what I loved, a screen and the functions bring available on my wrist instead of through the app. This was before C25K so I never expected to be thinking of a running watch!!! I also loved the FB app so couldn't see past it at the time. Now of course I feel like I'm missing out on accurate GPS 🤣🤣

I was tempted to stay with Fitbit as I’m used to the app and it takes me a while to work out new technology!! Felt a bit unfaithful to my poor Fitbit as I popped it into a drawer today!!

There’s a lot to get used to on this new watch! A few things I still don’t understand!! 😀

Good choice - i’ve had one of these since October and love it! It’s fairly simple once you get used to it, and works great. It has had the odd wobble with strange pulse readings occasionally affecting heartrate, but I find it so helpful in pacing and seeing my progress, info on splits etc. I have set up some workouts for intervals and running at a particular pace via the garmin app and then sending it to the watch. Enjoy! 😀

Thank you! I’m slowly getting to grips with it! But I already love it although I’m hoping I don’t stress over my heart rate!! (Also mustn’t bore my poor family with it!! Eyes have rolled already!!😂)

Sounds great. Esp being able to build a workout. Saves using the podcasts if you're keen on listening to your own music. Think you've hit the jackpot Sarakc . Don't worry about the pesky family, it's great that your new hobby is so healthy they can hardly say much about it 😆 Hopefully one or two will be inspired to follow in your footsteps. 😊
