Parkrun - no stopping today 😎

New PB 28:19 (watch time - will update when I get official time) EDIT no need to update official time exactly the same :-)

Super pleased as my previous PB of 30:00 was a real struggle where I had to walk twice. No stopping today!!

My new Garmin watch really helped as I could see what pace I was doing. Even though the last km felt hard I didn't slow either so really pleased about that.

Unbelievably chuffed with my progress and still can't quite believe how much I enjoy running x

Awesome! What pace was that?

(I’m still in that place where I just run, with no clue what pace it is, not any real clue how to control it beyond the obvious “just go a bit faster/slower”.)

sallenson profile image
sallensonGraduate10 in reply to Jay66UK

A heavy touch faster than 6mins per k. That is going some....

Jay66UK profile image
Jay66UKGraduate10 in reply to sallenson

That’s 50% faster than me 😳👊

sallenson profile image
sallensonGraduate10 in reply to Jay66UK

At the moment. Not for long. And she's younger and smaller than you. Like some sort of human whippet. Lovable all the same.

As are you.

Differently lovable.

No race. Just be the best you that you can be. Both of you.

I'll just wave :-)

5:40 per km - I don't know really no any more than that about controlling it either! x

Rewind. I need to run X miles in Y minutes cos Army. 👏👏👏

sallenson profile image
sallensonGraduate10 in reply to Jay66UK

Indeed. Zealots.

Have some fruit cake Jay xx

pianoteacher profile image
pianoteacherGraduate10 in reply to Jay66UK

Only just inside the Army time with that pace. The last musician to complete it from my band did the 1.5 miles in 10:30ish - I'll be right at the back on my current pace 😂

sallenson profile image
sallensonGraduate10 in reply to pianoteacher

You could wear a metronome as a fascinator. Under your Army beret or something :-)

Some regiments have a fluffy thing under the cap badge. That might work.

I'm willing to try anything! The funniest bit will be carrying the filled jerry cans - they only weigh a little bit less than I do 😂

That's what I love about this forum - what would I do without all this insight 😂😂

BethMay profile image
BethMay in reply to pianoteacher

Wow 😮I can only do about 8:25 per km 😂😂😂😂

pianoteacher profile image
pianoteacherGraduate10 in reply to BethMay

It's all relative Beth. Although I hadn't run before couch25k I was quite fit - working out 5 days a week. The thing I love most about running is that you don't have to compete against anyone but yourself x

sallenson profile image
sallensonGraduate10 in reply to pianoteacher

Except on here lol!! There's a sub-forum already dedicated to "Doing parkrun in under 28:19" :-)

Just kidding, okay.... xxx

pianoteacher profile image
pianoteacherGraduate10 in reply to sallenson

Haha! You wait till I go sub 25 😉

sallenson profile image
sallensonGraduate10 in reply to pianoteacher

Oh Lord. And then you'll play all the Chopin Etudes back to back from memory :-)

Whatever it is that you're on, can we all have some please?

pianoteacher profile image
pianoteacherGraduate10 in reply to sallenson

Good God no! My memory is awful. Just off to play at a village fete with a concert band who think key signatures are optional 😂😂

Wowsa!! Brilliant!!

Now I'm in Big School can I call you "Marie"? xx

pianoteacher profile image
pianoteacherGraduate10 in reply to sallenson

Go on then I'll let you 😘

No hills you see - hoping to get up to Bedgebury in the school holidays. Don't think I'll do that quite so fast 😂

That is an awesome time, hon. Blimey O'Blimey.... xxx

pianoteacher profile image
pianoteacherGraduate10 in reply to sallenson

Strangely feel like I could go faster - just need to build some stamina to get through the last km. If my school PE teachers could see me now......

Guesty26 profile image
Guesty26Graduate10 in reply to pianoteacher

Ive had a stomach bug for about 10days now so only been doing comfortable 5k’s so will hopefully be back on it properly next week. Ive decided to push the 5ks for a while during the hot weather (going go be red hot for a while not condusive to my running) may find a couple of horrible hills to gallop up too. Keep at it your doing great.

pianoteacher profile image
pianoteacherGraduate10 in reply to Guesty26

Oh no - poor you! I've been doing all my running recently at a comfortable pace but as I didn't have my son with me for Parkrun this morning I thought I'd push on a bit and see how it went. Glad I did because it was, surprisingly, quite comfortable. Enjoy your hills :-)

Yes thanks. Pleased to say that I’m now back to my post grad consolidation runs but I’m on a wedding weekend in London so a few days off. My youngest niece and her boyfriend made it to a London Parkrun but I didn’t want to ruin the hairdo!

Excellent work and a great time. I also tried a park run today for the second time ever lol. Got a PB but not surprising seeing as the first time was back in december just after I graduated. Still great fun and a lot busier in the sunshine :)

Nevermind - it will come. I'm down for Tailwalking in a couple of weeks - really looking forward to it x

Tasha99 profile image
Tasha99Graduate10 in reply to pianoteacher

I took 3 secs off last week’s truly awful run and felt 100x better at the end so I was happy with that 👍🏽

pianoteacher profile image
pianoteacherGraduate10 in reply to Tasha99

Fab Tash! It's funny isn't it - when I ran my 30:00 it was so hard. I enjoyed it afterwards because I was pleased with the time but it was horrible for the last 1500 metres. Today it all came together and the last 500 metres or so was tough but still enjoyable x

Tasha99 profile image
Tasha99Graduate10 in reply to pianoteacher

I know! I can’t tell how anything is going really! I tried to take it easy today and didn’t go for a PB so I was pleased. Pacers week next week. I’ll try pushing that one 😳

pianoteacher profile image
pianoteacherGraduate10 in reply to Tasha99

Have you got a running watch Tasha? I found that the most useful thing today x

Tasha99 profile image
Tasha99Graduate10 in reply to pianoteacher

My Apple Watch but to be honest, I run at the pace I feel I can run at so looking at my watch is neither here nor there. I do look at it but don’t adapt anything really. My ParkRun is also 5.12k so actually I’m closer to sub 30 5k than it seems 😂 How unjust.

pianoteacher profile image
pianoteacherGraduate10 in reply to Tasha99

Haha! They don't seem to be particularly accurately measured. The organisers of our Parkrun go to lots of different ones and report back often with distances over 5k.

I only did 4.99k today according to my Garmin. Mind you I did cut across the corner of the children's play area rather than running round it so it might be that :-)

Tasha99 profile image
Tasha99Graduate10 in reply to pianoteacher
