Rebooting with attitude!

Well guys, have had a bit of a hiatus recently in my quest to reach 10k mainly because of low energy levels and breathing problems. BUT, all the posts on the forum have made me hungry for that elusive goal, so am still in the running (see what I did there?!?) and have just signed up with a personal trainer to push me out of my comfort zone. He has recommended a manual breathing trainer called Powerbreathe which hopefully will improve my lung capacity and allow me to run comfortably rather than wheezing like a stranded walrus! We also completed some interval training yesterday with squats, lunges, push ups etc so am happily having a rest day today to ease my aching limbs, lol! It was my first time in a gym so hopefully will kickstart my quest as I have signed up to a local 10k run in August and I don’t want to have to walk the entire course, though I spose a few walking moments will happen!! Never thought that downloading the C25k app last October would lead to me being a gym bunny 😁🤪😄!

Go you! Having a personal trainer will really help and keep you on track for what you want to do. No slacking with them around!

Enjoy the training and good luck with the 10K.

Think I really needed someone to shove me off the harbour wall, but I’m in the swim now sowill have to work to reach my goal. Plenty of encouragement and support to be had here, too, so I have no excuse for slacking. The trainer has given me homework too, so it all looks positive for a good result.

Very impressed with your determination! You will get there, am so glad you are getting some focussed support too, that is brilliant. Will be cheering you on all the way. x

Thanks, Sadie-runs ! It means a lot to know that others are cheering me on! I know many have faced challenges on their way and have surmounted them. The positivity of my trainer is very motivating too, as I have been very uncertain about my physical ability to run 10k. But if determination wins races then I stand a good chance of getting to the podium, and it will be down to getting the right support both here on the forum and in the gym.
