Back from physio appointment after having a couple of niggles that are getting a bit relentless.
Aggravated high hamstring, up under the glute (right side) and an inflamed knee ligament (inside left knee). Nothing torn so maybe a blessing to get it early and shorter time on IC.
No running for a week however did negotiate as I have RFL 5K on Sunday so compromise I can slow slow jog a little and walk most of the way very sad about that. 10 mins x2 day on exercycle, twice a day ice for both and gentle hamstring stretch, nothing else allowed.
Back to physio in a week see where we're at.
So won't be starting Ju-ju's plan this week, so p..ed off but hey hoping if I follow the recommendations then might be just a short stint out of my running shoes.
Feeling a bit sorry for myself as just have this new found pleasure that costs nothing and yet gives so much and thought I was making good progress. Anyway tomorrow I'll give myself a talking to and get more philosophical about it.
Hope everyone has a good week and safe and happy running

Oh poor you Lori. I’m sorry to hear that you won’t be joining me on ju-ju’s plan. But I’m in no rush so sure once you’re all better you will catch up pretty quickly! Hope recovery starts very soon. x
Thanks Ripcurl. Yes was going to right there with you but instead I'll be coming up the rear...lol Disappointing but hoping for a speedy recovery and then physio led strengthening instead of trying to emulate off the web. Hey good luck for the start of your 10k goal
Totally understand I'm on the IC too, been on and off it for a couple of weeks now, seem to have got to Ju-ju's week 3, everything was going so well then the niggles hit . . . lets hope we are both back soon
Thanks, yes lets get back there soon! Just so disappointing when you think you are making good steady progress. Because I am such a new graduate I am scared I'll lose the fitness I've gained and have to start all over again. Hope your recovery goes well and swiftly. Take good care
Sorry to hear this Lorijay but sometimes a spell on the IC can help your muscles repair and you may find you come back stronger than before. Try not to be too despondent.
Thank you Razouski. Nice to think there may be a silver lining in amongst this. I'll keep myself cheered up by singing along to your wonderful renditions.
I know this is frustrating and the only thing I can say is so many of us have been there from time to time! The ic is misearable but you have obviously got the bug now so do what you can when you can, enjoy Race for Life and look forward to Ju-ju's plan when you are ready.🙂
Thanks Sandra. I think I just need to keep a bit of perspective and stay positive. As Arnie says, I'll be back, hoping sooner rather than later. So good to be around people who understand
Oh Lori. 😕 So sorry, I know how you feel. I had planned to do ju-ju’s plan back in Feb, then got a calf strain out of nowhere. Was gutted. But, you sound like you have it in hand, and a week or two of no running is not much in the grand scheme of things. You can join the plan a bit later (I joined in week 8!) Rest up - you’ll be back running again in no time. Like you, I have had to work on the old philosophical pep talks from time to time. xxx
I know exactly how you feel lorijay. I graduated with nothing but a niggle from a previous injury to my ankle and am now also on the IC with a suspected calf tear. I don’t think I did anything different but because of ankle exercises I reduced my runs to two a week just want to get my running shoes on and get out there.
I have resorted to cycling and walking in this lovely weather. I can’t see the physio again till the end of the week so want to keep active.
Thanks Misswobble. Yes I think a couple of lessons learnt now so will come back a little more knowledgable. Thank you for the suggested exercises which I will take on board.
That is very point about only doing exercises when injured. I am certainly guilty of that, spent the last week doing lots of calf raises whereas if I had done them previously I might not be on the IC now
