I posted on here a few weeks back about my progress and it seems I spoke too soon. As the following week I did too much running, my usual 3 runs per week but i got cocky - I did an 11km then a 13km and then a 10km fun run (55min 54sec) Problem was that in the last 100m of the fun run my hamstring tightened up then I had a sharp pain. Not knowing much about injuriues I just rested and stretched and after a couple of days did a run but it only lasted a couple of km then the pain again.
So since the 20th May I have rested and stretched and not done a great deal. In fact in the last 3 weeks have done just 3 runs and 2 of those were in the last 3 days.
The rest has definately done me good although I was worried as during that time of not runing I was content and actually only on a couple of occasions I thought I want to run. But I wanted to be sure I would nbot get any more tweaks and now I am back running all be it at shorter distances 6km on Friday and 7km today I am more than happy to keep to these distances for now.
I never liked the slow and steady responses I received on here or i had given on here, but now realise that this is the best way forward

Thought you’d been a bit quiet. A spell on the injury couch is all part of the journey, hopefully it will make you a better, stronger runner in the future 🙂
On!! I know what you mean though. I only graduated from C25k a couple of weeks ago and I was supposed to be just keeping up with 30 min runs for a few weeks until I start the next round of ju-jus plan. I’ve run mostly 5ks getting slightly faster each time, then one day I thought I’d try for 5.5k. I’d set my App to kms but forgotten my watch was set to miles. Off I went and did a different route and just ran. I was listening to to stepping stones podcast and did it twice then realised it cdn’t just be 4.5k still..... I’d run 7.26k when I got back. And the urge to go out and try again was very strong next time I ran. But I didn’t!! I remembered all the advice about not pushing yourself too far and too fast and to consolidate.
But I am a o looking forward to running longer distances though and I NEVER thought I’d hear myself say that!!!!
