5k – testing, testing!

This morning was my 5k test run after having nearly two weeks off to try and fix some top of foot pain. I have spent a lot of time using a Lacrosse massage ball on my foot so I am hoping all will be ok. The pain has always been after running rather than during so its difficult to tell yet, we will see how things go today and over the weekend. Hopefully next week I can get back on track with JuJu’s 10k plan, I have fallen off the wagon slightly recently due a various injuries . . . Have a great running weekend everybody :)

PS: Still loving my new Garmin watch :)

The test run after injury is always a bit scary and sometimes you don't know if all is ok until a few days afterwards. Do you know what's caused the pain?

Not really . . . I know I should go and see a physio and if this hasn’t fixed it I will have do that.

Too tight laces or badly fitted shoes are possible causes.

Yes I've read about that, even tried a different lacing pattern. I have to say the massage ball is really good though . . . I think for about a fiver every runner should have one on the floor under their desk :)

Great to see your back out running. Hopefully you’ll be back on track now.

I’ve been doing the foot stretches you recommended this week and have also used thinner socks / elastic lock laces to ensure shoes not too tight. Did 6k yesterday and foot pain free today do feeling hopeful. Of course by doing multiple things I can’t be sure what’s actually helping but as long as the pain goes I don’t care. Lock laces are promising - I’m finding it easier to get even pressure across my foot vs standard laces.

Well there is no doubt the massage ball helps but I could definitely feel it again yesterday after Fridays 5k, so I'm not really sure what to do now, I guess the answer is to take another week off but that is something I don't really want to do . . . hope you can continue pain free and are not suffereing an after effects.

Might be time for sports therapist? I felt my foot a bit yesterday when running but seems okay today. I’m going to press on but might look for a sports therapist anyway.
