Fairly recently graduated C25K, running between 5-7 k now. Just wondering about people’s thought about running on consecutive days? Thanks x

Running on consecutive days???
I think the advice is to still keep a rest day in between until you’ve been running do a year. But I’m sure one of the administrators will give you more accurate information. Be careful of doing too much too soon as you could risk injury.
Just enjoy your running and let your running legs develop some strength with consolidation before pushing on too much.
There are mixed views on this.... rest days are important, especially as a new runner. However after a year of running I started running consecutive days at the weekend. Now 5 years later and I run every day. Currently on day 504. I would say something to aim for when you feel ready. I personally love it but it’s taken me a long time to get here!
Yup, like those above, I was told that in the first year, only run every-other-day. After that, you can work up to more frequently. Hope this helps. xo
I got slated on here for even suggesting missing a rest day, even if keeping to just 3 running days 😂
Really? that isn't good, people do have Som strong opinions on things here but ultimately you own your running, its your journey.
Possibly because of how long you've been running for! (and consequently the idea that it might encourage other new runners to over-stress new running legs). But as ju-ju- said, it's your journey.
In the guide to post C25k running healthunlocked.com/couchto5... there is a link to an article about running on consecutive days, which basically says that it is a good idea to be running regularly for a minimum of six months, with plenty of extra cardio work on rest days before considering consecutive days. It also states that over 40s should take extra care before increasing training load.
An occasional consecutive day is probably not going to hurt, but the golden rule is never to follow a hard run with another. The longer you can wait, the less likely you are to get injured. A year is often, somewhat arbitrarily, suggested.
Is doing two short runs consecutively that much worse than one long run? I was running on alternate days for a while before increasing to 4 runs a week. Effectively just increasing from 7 runs a fortnight to 8. Like everything take it slow and be careful. Don't increase frequency and duration or pace at the same time.
Been running around 8 months, now running every other day (mostly) which is four days a week. This is comfortable and includes 'longer' runs (7-11k so far). I wouldn't want to increase to every day yet, though I would like to, but then I'm ancient, well over 40 and some ... I would say take it easy, increase distance first, and listen to your body.
Did my first 8.5k Sunday so having 2rest days then going back to 5k tomorrow 😘
fantastic!
