10k 😁 No fluke!

Decided that today was the day to see if my first 'accidental' 10k of a few weeks ago was a fluke or not. Was a bit worried after a bit of a gruelling 8k last week.

Planned a lovely jaunt along the Thames Path and back and woke up this morning to unbroken blue sky. A decent warm up walk took me to my start point only to find the footpath had been diverted due to resurfacing works! (For those of you familiar with the last 10k it was starting to feel like the bullocks all over again) Still not to be beaten I just warmed up for a bit longer.

The path was lovely with lots of distractions; rowers, scenic bridges (some a little too hump backed for my legs' liking!), swans and locks and some lovely tranquil spots and couldn't believe how quickly 5k seemed to arrive. Felt equally chilled on the return journey but was grateful for the tarmac on the last stretch, which meant I could pick up my pace a bit.

So no fluke and three minutes faster than last time (though not fast I know) - so pretty chuffed all in all and STILL CANNOT TOTALLY BELIEVE THIS IS ME - who couldn't run for 60 seconds last August.

Wishing you all happy running this weekend 😊

Yay, fantastic, and a good pace too. We were down by the Thames today too, in Oxford, taking the dogs back to their old haunts. Love the photo.

😊 Will have passed you on the other side of the river - I ran from Folly Bridge (well a bit below it due to path being closed!) to Sandford Lock and back.

It was perfect and when the path is properly open is about exactly 10k.

Will definitely do it again. Maybe the other way round next time so as to end up at the pub by the lock 😊

I will look into that myself.

It's wonderfully flat - apart from the odd bridge πŸ˜‚

Great photo, looks like a really nice place to run. It’s an amazing feeling isn’t it knowing to can run 10K. Just did my third one today and have become quite addicted.

Addictive Yes! - was already planning my next route during my cool down walk πŸ˜‚

Think I'm gonna aim for at least one 10k a month (though today did think I could run a bit further.....)

Nice job Debs - faster than me πŸ˜€ looking good. Clearly no fluke - glad you got a bovine free run today.

Definitely no cows! Though it does seem my 10ks are destined to be run using 'alternate' routes to those I've planned.

Felt good again today - everything a bit tight at the beginning but the second half feeling stronger.

Bloomin’ brilliant, Deb! Sounds like a lovely run, too. 10k is not to be sniffed at!

It was a lovely run - but still feel the need to pinch myself to check it's all real. I mean me? 10k? I wouldn't have put money on it even 3 months ago πŸ˜‚

I can't believe I can do it still!

I was the living embodiment of a couch potato this time last year. Every run feels like a blessing now and the 10ks have been the best of all 😊

Well done Deb, a great accomplishment and three minutes quicker tooπŸ’ͺ....

Very warm today, you did really well. I want to run by the Thames too, but near Hampton Wick to Kingston.

So pleased for you, you must feel great and proud of yourself.😊x

It does feel great 😊!

I love running by water - the sea the best of all but we're a bit landlocked in Oxfordshire. However we have lots of rivers with decent footpaths and they also have the advantage of being pretty flat!
