Here it is, my first ever bling!! πππππ πββοΈ. Oh my gosh it was a hideously hot 10k run in Bath today. My wave didnβt set off until 11:17 so we were running in the hottest part of the day I think. Was nearly cooked before I even started!
But I did it. So much for a PB - the heat meant I was actually three whole minutes off my training PB for 10k but at least I completed it - 1:16:25 and lived to tell the tale!
Happy running everyone - stay cool!

Thank you Flick. I didnβt care about the time - I was focussing on not passing out before the finish line! It was so hot, but the tunnels were a lifesaver.
Ah, the Killerton 10k trail run in September is next - hopefully cooler but with hills! So I need to up my training for that one and at least get to 2 circuits of my regular local 5k route under my belt which has plenty of height gain and loss.
Well done - you did it, despite the heat! I know how much tougher it is on a hot day, especially these early, untrained for ones but the bling is yours and I think you should be very proud!π
Fantastic achievement ...I'm in awe of you. I'm really struggling to get to 10km and this heat is always the winner. So double congratulations to you - 10km in searing heat... celebrate, you should be so proud of yourself. x
Thank you so much! Keep going, you will get there. Slowly slowly building up, varying my pace and doing Jujuβs β10 is the magic numberβ was the secret for me. Good luck, you will do it!
Whoop whoop well done to you πππΎπ especially in the heat. Lovely bling and well deserved.
Are you running Lacock in June? I've done a few Relish Race events but Lacock is my favourite. If you're thinking of the next race then you should consider it.
I would have loved to but my OH is working that weekend, so will have to try and do it next year. We plan to try and use these events as an opportunity for a weekend away (any excuse!). Hope itβs a bit cooler for you in June!
Thank you! I never realised just how much of a physiological impact the heat would be on my 51year old bod. It definitely forces you to slow down. I kept thinking of the NikoNiko chap and his approach to speed and that really helped. How did your event go?
