The next batch of Tikiboos:

I thought I would save you from the sight of me wearing them again. Can't wait to go out in them and run. Just the peacock leggings to arrive now, then I'm set up. Honestly, i know I'm being extravagant, but someone posted the contents of their lycra drawer on Run Mummy Run today, and I have a way to go to catch up. Anyway, why not, we seldom go out or go away - the Iceland holiday in the autumn was the first foreign holiday I'd had since 1979. And it's making me happy and inspiring me to run :)

Good for you, young Flick! :)

in reply toMikeJones68

Hello lovely Mike. do you think 8 pairs of running leggings is excessive?

MikeJones68 profile image
MikeJones68Graduate10 in reply to

One pair for each day of the week plus a spare. How is that excessive?? ;)

in reply toMikeJones68

You are right 😊 I hadn't looked at it that way

As long as there not made out of recycled dolphin snouts, I see no reason not to buy as many as you like hehe. Do you not find the weather is too hot now for running tights, I know i'm down to shorts with a second layer on top if it's breezy/colder at night but generally i'm in a t-shirt now.

in reply topinkaardvark

Gods no, it's freezing here and pouring with rain. 8 degrees feels like 5 according to my phone. Even my half German ginger man is wearing a jumper, and he gets hot easily anyway, I have vests and capris for when it gets above 20 degrees

pinkaardvark profile image
pinkaardvarkGraduate10 in reply to

It's miserable here today, but last night it was 12c but a bit blowy so had shorts on, but still had my karrimor long sleeve jacket hoody thing(same one as you have) on but with the sleeves rolled up after a bit. But most runs even that is getting a bit much. I do miss the sub zero winter running.. but I reckon I'd feel like my blood was freezing if it switched back to that lol.

in reply topinkaardvark

Im so much a summer person. I had to force myself out when it was really cold. Of course, I warmed up quickly once I started running, but anticipating that freezing walk beforehand was like bracing yourself to get into the cold water at the swimming pool.

Lovely jubbly!

I don’t go on hols very often either, usually the odd weekend here and there. Don’t drink or smoke either so my only vice is running gear. It’s more addictive than crack! 😁

Can I Say That? We’ll soon find out 😎

I hope you get out for a run soon. It’s tipping it down today. Been out with the dog and dog thoroughly drenched. Not the best day for a test run 🤨

in reply tomisswobble

I dont smoke or drink either (except for my Beltane prosecco experiment lol). sun has actually come out. Im debating whether to do another short run this evening, even though that’s two consecutive days, or wait till tomorrow and try a longer one.

Mic took the dogs out in the rain this morning. Dennis is collie/arctic and is oblivious to rain, snow and sleet. Isha is a lurcher and a total primadonna about getting cold or wet, hence she has a waxed coat. They all three came back soaked.

misswobble profile image
misswobbleGraduate10

I walk my neighbour's fauve Basset. He has a double coat and just loves vile weather. It makes him go daft. It’s like wrangling a steer 🙄. He’s a handful though 🤨. It’s stopped raining momentarily but all my gear is dripping wet. He’ll want be off out again soon 🙄

Keeps me moving though bless I’m 💪

in reply tomisswobble

Dennis has that double coat too. He sheds eveywhere all year. Im allergic to him, hence the inhaler for running. Mic has clipped him and he’s still shedding. Still, as yuu say, they keep us fit and on the move!

GoogleMe profile image
GoogleMeGraduate10 in reply tomisswobble

Oh my! I did not know you walked a fauve [typing in a whisper so G doesn't hear] If I had had my choice of breed it would have been a fauve...

G is not a rain dog but she is a bog dog.

misswobble profile image
misswobbleGraduate10 in reply toGoogleMe

He is kept on a lead all the time as he’d just vanish. Their instinct is just to get their nose to the ground and go. Very difficult to walk which is why I learned to run so I could keep up with him. He is very strong. he wears me out 🙄. He is dead clever🙂. He loves atrocious weather. I think because whips up up scents.

GoogleMe profile image
GoogleMeGraduate10 in reply tomisswobble

I had heard suggestions that they might be a bit full-on bassett-y in that way. Some owners say yes, some say theirs can go off lead. Google certainly has her moments anyway (and I had a whole phase of us going for a run in the same wood certainly but not seeing her other than beginning and end. Had to do some recall work and carry warm sausage wrapped in foil for a while!)

misswobble profile image
misswobbleGraduate10 in reply toGoogleMe

He’s not my dog so I have To keep him on a lead, so constantly having to keep up with him. My arms are longer than they used to be 🙂

GoogleMe profile image
GoogleMeGraduate10 in reply tomisswobble

Yes, it's a very different business walking someone else's dog!

misswobble profile image
misswobbleGraduate10

The dawg should be hand- stripped twice a year but the owners have him sheared instead as it’s such an ordeal at the salon. He’s not very co-operative shall we say. He reminds me of Animal on the Muppets 🙂

in reply tomisswobble

Ive never had a dog with a coat problem before - having had only hounds before - and I dont intend to repeat the experience!

misswobble profile image
misswobbleGraduate10

Yeah this boy is a hound dawg. Hair ruddy everywhere. He needs cutting again now as he’s getting woolly

Those butterflies look great! I might have a look at the Tikiboo's site again but looking for summer stuff: today's run was tough (5k) because of the sun AND the wind... It's that time of the year when I just don't know what to wear: whatever I choose, I'm either too hot after 10 mns or too cold when running against the wind. So need to invest in a pair of shorts or capri. I would like to get shorts with butterflies on!

Anyway, have a lovely run in the butterflies outfit: I'm sure you look fab in it!

in reply toAnthie

They do the shorts I think. Meanwhile compression top means compression, and I got stuck trying to put the top on! It kind of rolled up on itself. Fine once it was on though. Raining a monsoon at the moment☹️

in reply toAnthie

Oh, just looked and they dont seem to do the butterfly shorts. Lots of other lovely designs though.

Anthie profile image
AnthieGraduate10 in reply to

I'm going to have a look :-) Thank you! That compression top seems quite a work out in itself!

in reply toAnthie

I strongly suspect it was due to little bit of weight Ive put on in the wrong places due to all that pasta and donuts!

Irishprincess profile image

Ooh those look fab! It's been proven that when we look the part then our performance is better too. So, really you're doing everything you can to keep your performance on an even keel. Not extravagant at all 😏

in reply toIrishprincess

Lol, Im glad you said that 😂😂😂

Eight pairs of running tights? My word, I am doing something wrong. I have 1 pair and do frequent washing! I could learn a lot from you.

in reply toLangley-Loper

Be careful, be very careful. I am not a good example to follow. I'm an addict! 😂

Or someone who doesn't like doing laundry. Or doesn't like doing less than full loads of laundry. That's my excuse anyway.

in reply toGoogleMe

I never thought of that either - I'm learning. i already have the won't need to buy any more for years excuse to explain the three pairs of road and one pair of trail shoes!

Must be the angle of the camera!! :) They've got 25% off today too Flick!

Heart Beatz capris arrived in the post yesterday and had their first outing today, my grumpy 14 year old didn't react at all to them, which means they pass the test!! Plus I had a £10 off voucher from my reward points so an even sweeter purchase! :)

in reply toFishypieface

I saw the 25% off deal, in fact they emailed me (me being such a valued customer lol). Im very tempted, but Im after capris now, and theirs are too short. Ive ordered some from sturdy by design, but they are out of medium in all their capris now- I got the last pair of Wild Africa- so im a frustrated buyer☹️

in reply toFishypieface

Ok, after eating beans, chips and avocados for lunch, I thought I had better buy the black signature, flowing vest top, guaranteed to hide that chip butty tum. Bit worried though, now Ive ordered it, as one of the reviews says it’s cotton, which is not brilliant for wicking sweat.

Fishypieface profile image
FishypiefaceGraduate10 in reply to

They'll be delivering your orders via golden carriage on a bed of rose petals soon! :) I think it will be fine, because it's loose and not tight fitting it won't have to do much / any wicking and cotton is nice and cool. Just had a look at your leggings on order - Wow, they might be able to see you from space next time you are out on a run! :) You will definitely be the coolest run in town :)

in reply toFishypieface

Oh, the wild africa ones? Yes, a bit bright! I wanted the aurora ones, but medium was sold out. Regarding the vest, I do already have the lycra vest that goes with the nebula leggings, and that is non cotton but tight. I dont know, to much Lycra, too little time (and money).not bad for an old girl on a state pension!

I think you should get a commission... my run spending excesses are sports bras, multiple, and buffs, multiple but thanks to you I now know that jellyfish print leggings exist and one of my screen names is Auntie Jellyfish....

in reply toGoogleMe

Ah, well, i have only one sports bra and one buff (she said virtuously). However, the sports bra is Bravissimo and cost nearly as much as the current leggings and top Tikiboo offer. I thought the jellyfish ones were cool - but so many choices ...

Razouski profile image

Lovely strides. Your last set made me quite jealous and I went on to the Tikiboo web site, then nearly choked... I love their stuff but my purse wasn't up to it. Fortunately they didn't seem to have any Capri length leggings so I had a genuine reason for not buying (rather than just being skint 😂). But I managed to got a nice set from Next of all places, and then picked up a bargain at Sainsbury yesterday, just by chance.

I will do my best to keep my green envious colour at bay. :-)

Enjoy your running in your beautiful Tikiboos.

in reply toRazouski

They do have capris in almost all their styles (sorry ;) I know, they are really expensive, though not as much as Sweaty Betty, which i dare not look at. I seldom buy clothes or go out or away, so I'm (rather shakily!) justifying my extravagance ;) x

Razouski profile image

No need to justify at all. Well deserved. :-)

I will when I go for a run a bit later, maybe a tad warm for me in leggings though!😁

in reply todavelinks

Only 11 degrees here. I feel the cold!

davelinks profile image
davelinksGraduate10 in reply to

Soon warm-up on the run.. midday here for me will be good temp, still a bit below average, though looking good for Bank holiday weekend, should be nice at Parkrun on Saturday..😊

in reply todavelinks

I do warm up, but not that much if it's cold. the worst bit is the walk beforehand, freezing my butt off. It puts me off the idea of running sometimes. I have a high tolerance for heat but not for cold.

davelinks profile image
davelinksGraduate10 in reply to

When cold do some dynamic excercises indoors before you go out to start getting hr up and warming up then go out and instead of walking do a very light jog to warmup for 5 then gradually speed up..

in reply todavelinks

erm ... no ... ;)

davelinks profile image
davelinksGraduate10 in reply to

Why's that then? Not keen or don't want the neighbours to see your great leggings runnng?😊

in reply todavelinks

However, it was 15 degrees when i ran just now, I had long sleeves and was too hot. Ha!

davelinks profile image
davelinksGraduate10 in reply to

You blow hot n cold flick, Was 13 deg when I was out at mid-day in shorts n short sleeves very nice to...😊

in reply todavelinks

I feel he cold, but even i had to admit i was hot running in long sleeves today 😂

davelinks profile image
davelinksGraduate10 in reply to

A lot of ladies do feel the cold, I'm not going to say it's an age thing, especially a young slip of a girl like you!😊

in reply todavelinks

It isnt an age thing, though im old enough for it to be. Anyway, that’s old ducks who ait around all day. Im actually better with cold than i uaed to be. But I lived. In Iraq and cyprus when I was a child, and have felt the cold in the UK ever since.
