Hi there and welcome to the fourth week and final few days of the April quest. How are you all doing with your goals?π₯
What the Quest is:-
The Quest takes one month . You can join any time, within those weeks.
The main aim of the Quest is to help you find a focus or goal that you would like to achieve by the end of the Quest period.
I ask that you will be a Graduate to join the Quest. The main reason I ask this, is that while you are doing the programme, your plan is very structured, so I wouldn't want the Quest to interfere with that.
Most popular goals are:-
To run three times a week
To slowly increase distance
To train for a specific race
To add In Stretch and Strength exercises
As you can see they are personal to yourself and it's totally your own choice.
Every week I will pin a new post, where all the members of the Quest can talk about how things are going.
So if you wanted to join all you have to do is put;
I would like to join the Quest, or count me in, and then I would like to. ..............
Your name will then be added to the top post and every week your name will be in the Quest until the end.
At the end of the Quest, there will be a certificate that you can download to keep.
Happy Panthering

Ju-ju who are these lycra clad folk and where are you finding them from? πVery happy to report that I've stuck to running on alternate days and that this has had two positive results:
1. It has helped me put work stresses firmly in their rightful place which is at work and not bothering me at home all evening...and
Love this.... this is what itβs all about.... and I found them on google for 80, s running. I grew up doing the Jane Fonda workout on a record player!!! I had an all in one purple catsuit...
I have the horrible inner ear thing again, that feels like youre hammered but you havent had the fun first - room spinning every time I lie down. So my todayβs run is postponed. It was caused originally by cabin pressure on landing when flying, and it crops up from time to time. It will probably be alright in a day or two, but for now I am grounded. And yes, before you mention it, my GP knows all about it- nothing to be done but tough it out π’
Thank you. As you can imagine, Im feeing frustrated at the moment. But never mind, Ive run a fair distance since I joined the April quest, so I think I can afford to sit back and recover x
Ah, a half marathon. Respect π² though I have to admit itβs something I quite fancy doing down the line. I draw the line at a full marathon, you have to be prepared to torture yourself and risk permanent injury doing those, if the people writing about them are to be believed, not to mention weeing in public and pooing in bushes. But a half seems possible once you have done 10k ... well possible somewhere in the future ...
Yikes that sounds grim I do hope it sorts out soon.....
Well, went to bed yesterday afternoon, then sleep right through till 5am last night, felt totally recovered so got up and ran 6.26k, partly along a beautiful footpath I'd never been down before, in my trail shoes. I've posted about the run separately on the forum. Feeling grand now.
I haven't missed a "Seven" workout yet...not long to the end of the month and my press-ups are definitely improving. It's a Pilates based workout today which is just as well as I did enough aerobic stuff with my 5 mile run in the rain this morning.
Tried to keep up with (at a respectful distance) a young man who appeared out of a side road at about 0.5 miles in. I kept him in sight until about 0.5 miles from home. I think he must have turned left when I turned right or I would definitely have caught him up (in my dreams).
On the bright side, no road kills today apart from a lovely lilac satin and lace bra. I would have picked it up but it looked too big for me. Maybe the result of a country lane knee trembler for some young lovers last night. It all happens in Kent!
Ive done what I intended when I signed up for this 10 days ago. Ive run 16.73k, two lots of around 6k and two shorter runs. Not having a specific distance or time goal has been very liberating and Ive enjoyed all the runs, especially the one today where I left the road and headed down that lovely wide footpath. Thank you ju-ju- for the motivation to run for joy but with a bit of structure behind it.
I have just done my first 5k on Saturday after completing the Couch to 5K programme. It took me ages, because I can only find the time to run twice a week, but I am very glad I did it
For me it was all about getting back into sport after having had 2 kids. I am now looking for a new challenge and I am thinking of combining the three 5k + podcasts with strength and flexibility exercises, core strength exercises etc. That means I will consolidate the 5k before I then work on 10 k. I have a question:
How would you combine the 3 5k+ podcasts? Any experience?
That's why I liked your April Quest! I will start it now.
Held off reporting till the last moment... 'cos it has been a challenging month and several of the month's goals (including some not in the Quest) have just slid away from me towards the end... but I have a big smile because I've had a Grand Finale.
So I had two running goals of which the biggie was to run a 13k... my longest distance. I thought that wasn't going to happen and then I seized the moment today... well, it needed rather more than a 'moment' Will probably put up a post about that run. Achieving that also meant that despite the piddling amount of running I've managed, I did get to a 25km total.
It was really a choice between the run and the swim... to make my swim total for the month I'd've had to do my longest ever swim, by a bit. I'm glad I put the run ahead of the swim.
Squats slipped a bit... just forgot... maybe 4 or 5 days near the end, food recording again, missed a few days but that was more about technical problems (no weight loss overall!) And really quite frustrated to miss two days (both Fridays) dog walk/run over the month (having kept it up since the beginning of Lent in the face of stiff challenges) Again, it was more all the other stuff going on simply pushing things out of my brain.
But actually I am really pleased with myself and today's run makes delicious icing on the cake. May here I come!
