Zen labs week 2 10K plan

I have been struggling a bit post C25k graduation. Today I ran 6k which is furthest run so far. It took me 45mins so I am slow but I did it and it’s progress! So feeling a bit better.

I regularly pass a running group who suggested I should join them, bit worried I might be too slow, but they have an improvers group so thinking maybe I might pluck up the courage when I feel a bit more confident in a few weeks time.

Slow is fine, a slow 6k is the same distance as a fast 6k!!!

True enough! Thanks!

Well I think that's a pretty good time! It took me 42 minutes to do my first 5k on the weekend. I tried a C25K+ podcast today and it was WAY too fast for me. I pushed through for the first 10 minutes and then was ridiculously exhausted for the rest of my run. I'll stick to slow and steady plodding for now. :)

Thanks Toni. I am avoiding intervals at mo don’t think I’m ready and would rather plod on and increase my distance. Sounds like you have similar experience to me! Once I have achieved magical 10K distance I might try them but think I would just not enjoy them at min 😀

That isn't a bad time actually. An you will speed up as you run more (it's happening to me very gradually), so a big fat well done!

Thanks Flick 😀 I feel happier I think plodding along increasing my distance gradually. Will get there at some point!

If you keep running regularly your times will improve naturally, it takes a long time to get close to our best pace and as a novice runner you will keep finding new gears if you just stay on the program and push yourself a little every now and again.

Thanks Pink. I think they will at the mo my thoughts are to improve distance rather than times and once I have reached 10K start doing some shorter runs at a quicker pace to see how I get on. I don’t feel ready for interval training yet!

That's exactly what I did and as I got up to 10k I found my 5k times came on leaps and bounds. It's all strangely linked. I still can't get my head around pacing most runs lol, I often think i'm going slow and then discover I have been bounding along and then have to pay the price :(

I loved Zen zero to 5k ☺However, Ibe tried the 10k programme twice now (did entire 5k programme from scratch after dislocating my hip a while back) and just can't seem to stick with it.

I did my first 10k a few months after graduation, just kept incrementally affing bits of time/distance to my runs. I took it easy and it only took about 10 weeks afair.

I am doing OK with zen labs at the mo. Although I might just try the upping distance thing too as had couple of occasions where app has gone a bit flaky on me.

Life has been a bit difficult last few weeks which has meant sometimes I missed a couple of runs. I will get there am sure! Not sure how long it will take but thinking of signing up for 10K in September which I think should be do-able.

Thanks for giving your thoughts on zen labs app!
