Did a gentle 3k today, with my brother, at a local park in Matlock.....we’re up here on a biking weekend 🏃🏃🏍🏍

No hamstring niggles thank goodness. Will give it a 5k test on Tues then onwards and upwards hopefully 🤞😊

Lots of totty in leather when I went. I suppose that includes our Ted now

That's Matlock Bath! I can assure you that residents of Matlock get very p'd off that people say Matlock when they mean Matlock Bath (aka Blackpool-on-Derwent) That's the view from my bed in Matlock in my profile pic, as painted by my sister and Matlock Bath is the other side of the first two hills and beyond the cable cars.

(None of this is to diss Matlock Bath, Google and I like a regular turn around there)

No, we’re staying in Matlock at the Riverbank Guest House. Didn’t go into Matlock Bath yesterday....seems odd coming from bikers, we chose to take in the scenery of the Hope Valley 🏍😎

Excellent! Bet the Hope Valley was glorious yesterday. I like the Edges for a run 'cos they are flat once you're up there!

How is the Riverbank? (I like to collect reviews for when people visit but don't stay over with us) It always looks good from the other side of the river.

If you see a Welsh Springer Spaniel that may well be us. I don't run in the park itself (although often see my brother whizzing through when we're doing a quick turn) but do run upstream from Matlock Bridge as the tarmac conveniently disappears fairly soon after five minutes warm up walk.

Matlock is very lovely! I regularly went to County Hall for meetings.....right at the top of the hill....the views from there were stunning.

I highly recommend the Riverbank, they can’t do enough for you and the breakfast,,,,yum 👌

I know that’s Matlock Bath, but I have a couple of friends who live in the area who shorten it to Matlock, so it’s a tad confusing, especially with our Ted being a biker an all 🤨 anyway, I’m sure there is totty in Matlock too. Maybe I could do a survey 😊

We'll send the language police round... or maybe they just know that everyone from elsewhere will think they are talking about Matlock Bath if they say Matlock...

(We'll leave aside Matlock Bank, Matlock Bridge, Matlock Green...Mark Steel was great on this In Town)

But it all adds up to being fairly hard work to find somewhere flat to run!

Do not believe that naughty misswobble who has a wicked sense of humour. Riber hillside is even more horrific than Carsington. G and I got lost (left behind) in the dark half way up once when she was a pup, and another time we had a run in with a load of bullocks.

When we had a season ticket for the Heights of Abraham we used to get the train to Matlock Bath, go up the cable car and walk home, more or less downhill all the way (well apart from up the other side to get home but I often waited in the valley to be fetched by car!). Not done it in a long time due to even more shirty cattle.

Your hills sound of biblical name and proportions. Makes my Cotswolds ones seem like pimples!

The language police sound scary. Im already afraid of the food police popping up on here if I admit to scoffing a bag of donuts, or the bra police getting me for dropping sugar down my front.

You live in a beautiful area though. I stayed with a friend near Chesterfield some many years ago, and he took us all round, including Bakewell, Matlock Bath and Arbor Low stone circle ( which, as stone circles go has a very spiteful vibe) and the nine maidens, oh and the village that comitted suicide during the plague - Eame was it?

Hello! Hope you enjoy Matlock. The bikers gather in huge numbers in Matlock Bath where fish n chips and beer by the river are the thing! Lots of bikes to ogle and fellow bikers to chew the fat with. Running wise, take a look at Riber. LOL

Have a lovely time!
