Week 8 run 1, hard work

I’m getting very excited as I approach the end of the programme but today seemed tough.

(Note: what comes next are words I would NEVER have imagined myself saying 3 months ago) I decided to do my run before breakfast as the forecast is warm and sunny (I suppose both parts of that sentence were improbable 3 months ago 😂). The only problem was that my phone died yesterday. Undeterred I loaded the C25K app on my iPad and downloaded a playlist from BBC Sounds. I put the iPad in my backpack along with some water and set off.

Maybe it was the heat, maybe the backpack, maybe some residual fatigue from my second AZ jab last week but I found it really hard going. Couldn’t drink the water as that would have involved stopping to take the backpack off. Although the playlist started well there were a few tracks I really disliked, to the extent that when ‘I’m in love with the shape of you’ was played it actually sounded all right. At this point I thought I really was losing my marbles. Then when I got home we were out of milk so I had to go to the corner shop in my Lycra. By this point I was past caring what I looked like lol.

Happy to report that now, after stretching, breakfast and lots of coffee I feel great. I hope my phone is sorted by the time I do run 2 and I might even get up a bit earlier 😁

Brilliant effort, so much of that resonates with me - not taking a drink cause it’s in the backpack is a particular favourite of mine😂 here’s to the final runs of the plan 🥂happy running 🤗

In retrospect I've no idea why I brought the drink along, emotional support?😜

I'm just in awe of anyone that carries a back-pack!

Well done! Onward and upward - so close now

If it makes you feel any better I had to remove a packet of Haribos from the backpack before I could run. Husband asked me if I was planning on joining the SAS 😂😂😂
