Well finally done it and completed my first park run. Finishing time of 30 mins so all things considered I'm happy enough with that and obviously now need to get under that. Thank you for the words of encouragement.

Well done and that's a great time. There's no need to feel compelled to get 'under that' as you say but it's good to have a goal.
Wow the magic 5k in 30min.. I've done 11 parkruns and the fastest I have managed was 33 mins... killer!!! a sub 30 puts you, in my opinion, into the realm of the running gods and goddess'. WELL DONE!
Well done. You will speed up as stamina and strength increase. My biggest drop in pb came when I bought some trail shoes as our park run is muddy. The other improvement was starting a bit further forward so that I was running rather than walking at the start. Another is to work out what sort of runner you are. I work best starting slow and getting quicker, others work at an even pace/effort and some like to go off fairly quickly and time it to just collapse over the line. Takes all sorts.
