Hoping to do my first Park run tomorrow, do I just turn and is there somewhere I scan my barcode in to get my timings ? Any information greatly appreciated.

You just listen to the briefing. There will be one for virgins. Then head to the line and run when they call start. At the end they give you a token. Head to the timing shack with it and they will scan it and your barcode. Your time will appear online and you will get an email. Can take an hour or so.

Just turn up...they’ll talk to you about it..separately for first timers...they scan your barcode at the finish...good luck 😉

Your damp screwed up mushy barcode 😁. There is someone holding their hand out at the end so if you’re wielding it then someone will relieve you of it Often folks can’t speak 😁

It’s proper fun ! There are all sorts of peeps there, not just runners, but all moving forward together 😃👍

I keep my barcode on a lanyard around my neck (its a proper official one) so the volunteer can scan it while I'm collapsed on the floor without me having to respond - I'll still get a finish time :)

Thank you for the replies, hopefully work won't interfere with me going tomorrow.

Run through the finish line. Pick up the token in the funnel..... stay in order. Get your breath back, then when you are ready take your token and your bar code to the person who is scanning. They each get scanned, you keep your barcode but NOT the token. Later you will get your timing and position place electronically.

Enjoy!

Probably depends on the park run - at mine you carry your barcode in ur pocket and someone scans it as you come out of the finish area. Lot less formal than it sounds! Have a blast - think school races but more towards egg and spoon and sack. Lots of good natured cheering and LOLs.

I have a very valuable member of my family who has the title of laminator-in-chief, and he was my first port of call for my sheet of bar codes. Don’t know how he did it but has provided me with individual credit card sized bar codes that won’t melt in the rain! Had to take quite a few peoples details on Saturday as token support volunteer because the rain had turned their codes to mush! Would recommend the lamination!!

I love it! I’ve done 3, the first one walking the whole way, then a couple of jogs in the next two. Everyone is supportive. I do one of the C25k sessions within it. I’m always nearly last but no one cares ❤️

I can thoroughly recommend it Jen, really friendly and no-one judges you. All ages, shapes, sizes and abilities. I got the definite impression that everyone has an amount of respect for each other for just being there.
