Hello fellow Questers! How’s your week been? Do you have snow?!! We’ve had a decent flurry overnight. It’s beautiful at the moment but I suspect all the pavements will turn to ice overnight. That’s when it loses its appeal for me! What do you think of the white stuff?

My week of questing has been pretty good. I was aiming for consistency and I have managed three runs of varying lengths. No speed run. Ideally my long run would have been longer but i didn’t have it in me after an epic trial session with a personal trainer who specialises in runners. Squats, lunges, deadlifts, core work, shoulder flexibility, hip movements…we did it all and my goodness I was (still am!!!) sore afterwards. The strength and flex part of my quest goal gets an unexpectedly massive tick this week!

Today I’ve been out for a run/walk over the snowy hills. I walked the snowy bits. I ran where the ground was easier underfoot. That’s without question the highlight of my week. The route up the hill to the highest point is my picture. It was worth the frozen face to be out in the snow! ❄️

So how have you been doing? Any surprise wins on your quest goals? Looking forward to hearing about your weeks!

Love, MissU ❤️

There have been some lovely hill photos on the PhotoQuest thread so have a look if you’ve missed it.

That is so beautiful, thank you, I love snow and we just haven't had any for years, the whole country can turn white and we just get drizzle, 5 -10 mile's in any direction but south can have snow but not us, it's weird I've had 2 good runs this week but no day off now for a week, so squats, lunges, kettlebell which doesn't do much is my quest for the week. If the sun comes out I might go up the hill after work one day.

Have fun in the snow all

Just a day later, it’s all different! The fields are still snowy but the roads and pavements are all clear. Nothing on the trees. I think I’m pleased about that. It’s nice to see the remnants of the snowmen still hanging around in the gardens.

Two good runs and some strength work is great! That sounds like something to be pretty pleased with. The strength exercises will be brilliant for your runs. Hope you get up your hill!

Nothing sticking here yet. We have had some very light snow showers in the last day or so.

I'm still on my RED streak, but may have to ease off if a little niggle in the right hamstring muscle doesn't sort itself out.

Fingers crossed for that hamstring to settle down. Hopefully it won’t force you to end your streak before you want to!

Snow was very short lived here in the SE and now it is just grey and persistent heavy rain 🙁 MissUnderstanding but your photo is georgous.

The PT sounds amazing and it will pay dividends for your HM plan. It's great to have someone who can give guidance and areas to work on. I've got plated hand weights but thinking about getting a kettlebell to add to the collection so I think you've spurred me on to investigate in getting one.

My quest is going well. Utilising the dreadmill for speed/interval runs and it did come in extremely handy for the brief snow yesterday where I ran for 32 minutes (guided run with Apple). Am aiming to start the 10KM Ju-Ju plan very soon. Lots of core work and strengthening also.

Physio seen this morning (for some reason I thought it was Monday but thankfully they sent a reminder last week to say it was today) and he is impressed with the progress. Have some more exercises to build into my routine which apart from weighted squats and weighted walking lunges, I now need to build in single leg squat and weighted lunge with a step up. Have booked to see him at the end of April and hope I won't need to see him before that.🤞

Have a great week all.

Funnily enough I was looking at kettlebells in the Range today! I’m thinking of getting one for home workouts too. They didn’t have the right one but it did make me think I should just get on and order one. They’re a great piece of kit!

Excellent news about the physio (and getting the right day!). I was doing single leg squats for the first time on Monday and I think that’s been the source of the pain-not using the muscles quite like that before. The PT guy says they’re his favourite exercise to give to runners. Will be interesting to see how we both get on!

Great run in the snow. It’s a different sort of challenge isn’t it! You’ll be in a brilliant position to start the magic plan. It was great for me. I did it straight from couch to 5k but you’ll have all your experience behind you. The shorter run each week would be perfect for a speedy one if you wanted to keep that up.

Looking out of the window, it’s grey and rainy here too. Oh well-at least the pavements are safer! Have a great quest week 🏃‍♀️💪🏃‍♀️

Hello! Again!!! I was adding to this and I deleted it !!!! Duh!

Yes it is I ... still here and still running...and yes, this morning we do have snow and it has just started again with a vengeance I am glad I ran yesterday!

Best news for me..I managed three runs!!!!! I Blooming well did!

They were not fast, they were limited on the flair front, but they felt FINE!

A very short and sweet one... a longer Sunday Runday one, ( first in an absolute age), and another shortish one yesterday!

For me this is a breakthrough moment. I adhere to the advice I give to so, so many, to do what we are able, but sometimes, it is very hard to accept that there are times when we are not able. So getting the three runs in was very welcome.

The strength and stamina work I continue to do, simple regular routines and the added bonus of March Matness and YWA, have contributed to the comfort of the runs. I am lucky because I have the time, (do I?) to get the regular exercises in ... but those exercises are so worth doing.

Favourite run ? It was the longer Sunday Runday Funday one...6.4k K... taking 50.45 minutes, so very slow , BUT, it was the first I had done since before my cold, in February. My finger ends lost feeling, I got snowed on briefly, and my cheeks were fixed in a frozen smile, and it felt marvellous..

You can tell I am pleased can't you?

I hope everyone has had a successful week as have I... and although the next week may mean the runs have to be fitted in as weather permits... I intend getting three in again over the seven days.

Happy Questing everyone,

PS

Your week has been incredible,  @MissUnderstanding, and I am in awe of your session with the trainer! It sounds exacting and exhausting!

Your walks too have been wonderful... ( I forgot about my walking) , and that photograph shows the wonderful locations that you get to walk in... thank you x

PPS

Heavy snow here today which has stopped now, but is set to start again at 8... so my next run could be in...... WALES, on Sunday... Yeayayayayayay !!!

PPPS

YWA today was wonderful . A throat Chakra !

PPPPS

More snow in the night...!

Weirdly, I can’t see my reply so maybe I deleted that by accident. Perhaps since your runs have been so superb, the run gremlins have been bored and plaguing us here instead!!

Absolutely brilliant week for you and I’m so pleased you’re hitting your stride after such a long time being ill. It’s so positive at the moment, and an extra bonus to be heading to beautiful Wales too 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

The snow has pretty much gone now, which is useful and an also a bit of a shame. My legs are still feeling the effects of Monday. Last night’s Zumba class had some, er, improvised moves by me due to leg aches!! Definitely good. I’ll try some YWA today to see off the last of the aches. I’m seeing PT again tomorrow and I’m scared…in a good way!

Have a fantastic week ❤️

Ha ha.. you had not replied:) I think you missed me :(

Thanks you!

I am feeling quite buoyant ,as you may see from the daft post I just put up! I am glad your aches and pians are easing... how many sessions will you have with the PT? It does sound well worth it !

We are heading off at some point, but it has forecast -11 where we are heading for today and tonight!!! EEKKK

I have already packed my lovley winterweight leggings, they are very snug! Hopefully some good runs next week, albeit in the rain,,, and maybe I'll get to see the Spring lambs there too!

Had a fantastic run on Sunday. Was supposed to do 8km was at the end of week 4 on JuJu’s Magic Plan, but was so enjoying it that I ended up doing 8.7km. Felt really good afterwards. Have now done the 4km and 5km run of week 5. Yesterday’s 5km run was really hard at the start as it was very cold and wet so a bit miserable. I hate running in the cold, especially if it’s wet. Would love to see some sunshine again. Pilates today and am on week 3 of the NHS strength and flex programme.

That’s absolutely brilliant. I remember hitting that point of the magic plan and it suddenly h feeling…magic! Great run for you. Before you know it, that 10k will be flashing on your watch and you’ll be doing a little dance in public!!

Cold and wet runs are tough. The worst is if it’s windy too. Bring on the sun! I’ve just looked out of the window and the snow is blowing horizontally!!!

Last week I focussed on consistency. And judging from my Apple Fitness rings, in terms of consistency, I’ve done better in Feb than Jan , and trends look they will be good for March. There is always this annoying one ring I don’t close! (Apple Fitness, see pic)

Of course if I call it rather the needed recovery day, it sounds ok. Yet, that broken ring annoys the hell out of me! 😠😤🫣

Talk about digital nudge power over us runners!

So here how I’m doing with my quests:

✅ Run 2 - 3 times/week using the NRC 10k plan. I’m heading into week 3 on my next run, so on track to hit our May HU HM/10k event. (See latest post by  linda9389 over at Mara/Race healthunlocked.com/marathon... )

✅ Do the Pilates March Matness led by   ChannelRunner2  (Summary page at healthunlocked.com/strength...

✅ Do a City Smell walk! That was the challenge. And I did and it increased my smell-some awareness. See my post at healthunlocked.com/active10...

🔲 Finish rowing the 30 x 30 RowAlong plan. I’m still working on this one, as I threw in some intense performance training sessions and improved my 2k pace substantially. So pretty happy but still working away at this quest.

So I think we both are doing pretty well in terms of consistency. But you S&F work with a personal trainer reads like a whole other level! Well done!

Hi MU and fellow questers 👋. Just 2 short treadmill runs for me this week. Monday I worked late and it was too dark to run outside alone. Today - well ❄️❄️ made running outside impossible 🤷🏻‍♀️. Having achieved my quest of 10k last week I look upon it as a recovery week. After a tiring stressful week working with teenagers with added snow 🤦🏻‍♀️ I was glad of a day off today with no need to travel through the snow, a lie in and a chance to run, even on a treadmill 🥱🥱😴😴

Today I did a 30 min run from NRC with CB popping up every 2 mins to keep my boredom level down on the treadmill. Monday I did a fartlek run ‘1 hard and 2 easy’ which was challenging but fun. I’d recommend both of these runs. Both were from the March playlist which I’m working my way through (thanks for the heads up Oldfloss )

So, weather permitting I’ll run another 10k at some point during the week. Happy questing everyone 👋

Your garden looks wonderful! Was that the “headstarts” run? I really like those. Some great questions that I keep meaning to write down as ice breakers but I can never remember them when I’m finished running!

I think it’s such a good idea to have a cutback week, especially in this weather. Really good decision. Enjoy all that wonderful recovery time!
