Bright and sunny in Dinnington today and after a morning of shopping and housework I was glad to get out for a run and determined to do a long one.
I set out through Havannah and 3 Hills nature reserve, the ground underfoot quite dry after a few rainless days. Mistle Thrushes, Redwings and Fieldfares were everywhere, a Great Spotted Woodpecker bounded through the trees and a Buzzard wheeled overhead.
I kept on through Hazelrigg and headed towards home through Big Waters nature reserve spotting Grey Squirrels and on the distance some deer.
About 10k at this point and the breathing felt steady and the pace even (about 7 mins per km). I got back to Dinnington and decided to push on even though my legs were tiring and after a couple more laps of the estates I finished on 14k in 1 hour 38 mins at 6.59 mins per km.
Very very happy with that.
Run happy, run safe π

Thanks Ted, I am going to do the Hexham half marathon in July, my reason for not doing the GNR this year is that I still have runs where I have to stop after a couple of kilometres due to the asthma, wouldn't want to ruin the GNR experience so will do a lower key one this year and hopefully the GNR next year π
