I have now 'run' 10k three times, but I haven't actually run the whole way as yet...apart from stopping to cross a couple of road I have taken (albeit small) walking breaks.
Off I set on Monday and I was determined to run the whole distance with no stopping. The first 2k involves a general uphill shuffle some bits steeper than others. I made it up the hill and crossed the main road without having to stop. I am then able to run the next 3k with no real problems. In order to get the distance up to 10k I then run a loop before heading back home down under the railway and up the slope. I walked past the station entrance as you take your life into your own hands with the traffic and then continued running along to the zebra crossing, over the road, and towards the traffic lights. When you drive along this road it is flat but it actually gradually rises to the lights then falls away again, but I found myself stopping to walk for no more than 30 seconds before setting off again and running back home (back down the big hill - yes!!).
The thing is, because of this walk I feel that I haven't really achieved a 'proper' 10k as yet. My overall time, including these small walking breaks in each of my 10k runs has been OK - in fact this weeks run was slower even though I had run longer!
So, have I run 10k or not?? It doesn't really matter as I am enjoying the achievement of being able to just run (and am off out again tonight).

Run/walk is a perfectly valid method of covering distance. In fact you are often faster because you recover better. I do all my long runs like that and I think I’ve only ever run 10k without any breaks twice. So yes, you have done it!
SC1472 I would agree with JaySeeSkinny ...yes, you have done it...little walking breaks are fine, it’s not like you’re walking a full km is it??? Get that 10k smile on your face girl!!! 😉 x
Congratulations on your shiny new graduate badge. I must admit when I'm on killer hills my running is often no faster than walking, and in fact I've been tempted to walk up them as it might even be quicker to walk. 😂
Well done for completing 10k on foot, it's no small achievement. 🎉🎉🎉
I'm sure that you must have passed some roses along your route - and you didn't stop to smell them ??? Unfortunately your loss!! - this is one of the reasons we run - to smell the roses along the way.
