I covered 10k on my run this morning but had a couple of walking breaks (one to take off a layer as I warmed up) so I am not going to count this as a 10k as yet. I will do the same route next week and see how I get on.
Completed my first 10k on Sunday afternoon, nonstop. I'd threatened to do it several times over the years - regularly running 7k, but never was never bothered to find a plan. I don't like interval training for 10K but adding 1k a week found it quite easy - so did it in three weeks 8k/9k/10k (thanks JU-JU). I intend to continue with 4k of 30-20-10, 5k and 10k each week until Christmas takes its toll. Then try to improve my overall speed - from shuffle to snail pace.
I did a lovely slow, sociable 9k with a local running club last night and really enjoyed it. Everyone was very welcoming and didn’t laugh at me for being fat and slow (in truth, I think only the voices in my head actually do this). I’m planning to go again on Thursday and then I’ll need to decide whether to join or not. I like the idea of having company on these cold winter nights and getting to make some new friends - but I’m still a bit intimidated by the idea of a running club...
