0830 hrs this Saturday will see the first wave of competitors ( plus me) start the first leg of our 3 part event. A 5 k run in the forestry commission woods. Not sure yet if they will use the Parkrun or not. ( this was my first ever Parkrun in 2016). Some sweaty time later we will all return to take on phase 2 a 20 km bike ride on the forestry commission roads. Phase 3 is another run ,this time of 3.4 km. This is where the problems really kick in. Previously you have just peddled you guts out over 20ks so when you get off your bike your legs feel like lead and don't want to run in your normal manner. (Iit takes me 1/2 k to resume normal motion. ). But it's only another3.4k stop wingeing and think about the nice shiny medal. Let's hope they haven't found any reason to exclude me. The training has been hard . The choice of clothing has been made so let's go for it. Clothing is difficult ,shorts to run in are no good for riding a bike for 20ks. Same as running in normal cycling shorts has been likened to "running in an oversize nappy". A compromise is "Skins". a posing out fit that seems to work.
If I am still alive I will try a report on Saturday evening. Mike

Sounds brilliant! Enjoy! We await your post race report!
Sounds like madness! Good luck, it sounds like you have done the training and know the pitfalls. Looking forward to seeing your shiny medal and your run report.
I'm curious to know what "skins" are. when I first read this I thought you meant in your skin !!!
I love the idea of a duathlon, and although I can comfortable cycle 20k and run 10k, I'm not sure I could combine the two. The second run sounds like a killer. Good luck and I look forward to hearing all about it. (and seeing you in your skins 😂 😂😂)
Hi Raz. You will have to goggle Skins ? I am not allowed to point you in their directon as that would be advertising a product? It's just poseurs gear that can be used to swim in / ride a bike in and run in. Costs an arm and 2 legs (and that's just for the shorts. Mike
I'm have tried riding for 20k and my bum was OK. then have run 5 k with em and it seems "good to go" This was real time not on the turbo trainer in the front hall
This could get embarrassing. I looped my MTB yesterday and landed on my back and left shoulder. Hurts a little bit..... 1200 hrs NO PROBS A&E +X-ray says "bruised "only.
