Lots of people, myself included, have asked about running after giving blood. The last time I gave blood I did a 5k four days later. I nearly passed out and I've never experienced such leaden feet and legs. This is a great article (the Kinetic Revolution is a great website for experienced and new runners) which explains exactly what you should expect after giving blood

Excellent article, and rather eye opening to see black-on-white the time it takes to recover from a donation. Thank you for sharing.

Really helpful; i last gave in August and it took me longer to get back into the swing of things than i thought it would. Good to know that actually my recovery time was pretty normal!

I've recently re-registered to give blood - I last gave in my 20s. So it's good to know what I can expect from my running afterwards.

It knocked me sideways - I was preparing for a triathlon at the time and it really put the brakes on my training - now I'll plan when I give blood more carefully

I cancelled my last donation appointment as it was quite close to my half marathon date (which is this Sunday). I felt guilty about it but I do need all the help I can get from my body 😬. A new appointment has been made.
