I ran 5.5 miles on Monday in my new stability brooks and my ankle moaned from 0.8-2.0 miles and thereafter was ok, an improvement on the nike neutral pegasus. I didn't run on Thursday as life got in the way but I did see my gp who has said to run but also do ankle strengthening exercises. This morning I got up for parkrun and my 7 year old came along too. We ran the 5k at her pace and I encouraged her all the way. We came in at 33.25 which was an enjoyable run. My ankle did not cause any issues today at all. So was that because my run was a slower pace at 10.50 instead of 9.50 or was it because my focus was on my daughter for the run?
New shoes and ankle update: I ran 5.5 miles on... - Bridge to 10K
New shoes and ankle update
That's really good news! Maybe the slower pace but also perhaps the benefit of the stability Brooks is kicking in? Either way, hope it continues for you! Congratulations to your daughter too - she should be very proud of herself (and her Mum!๐).๐
Thanks Sandra she was the first of her age group today. This is her practice run for the 5k poppy run next weekend. I am very proud of her!
I am hoping that my ankle is settling but don't want to get too excited but a glimmer of hope? Then I can look for the possible hm next April, eek!
That would be great - we can encourage each other! I am hoping for a second HM in March...๐ฎ๐๐๐ฝโโ๏ธ
Ooh that sounds good. This would be my first and I have no idea what I am letting myself in for....
Do you train by yourself or with a running group?
Mostly a solo runner here (which I love), although I have done several races with my sister who lives down in Somerset (I am in Surrey). We ran the Bath Half together which was very special. I am tempted to join a group but lack of confidence holds me back I'm afraid. My OH is running again now too which is great and although we rarely run together (!) we are hoping to both run a local 10k in November. โบ
Join a running group - I have and they are all so lovely and supportive and they have groups that do everything from C25k up to marathons and beyond. Bound to be a group you can fit into. The experience, knowledge and encouragement really does help. I was terrified on my first day but it's been amazing
well done it sounds like your shoes are suiting you ๐
Goodness I hope so. I guess a solo run may prove it. In the meantime I am still strengthening my ankles ๐
Good for you! ๐ช๐
Good to hear you managed a run without pain. That's really great. And you're doing great with your 7 year old, respect!
I think my 7 year old also helps me too
