I’m down in Tullamore, my home town, visiting my Parents for the weekend with Family. This afternoon my two boys wanted to go to an in door play centre which is about 8k from my parents house. Nicola, my wife went in with the boys in the car. So I decided as I had taken my running gear with me, to run in and get a lift home with them.
I ran into Tullamore, 5k from my parents house. Then continued on for another 3k. When I arrived at the play centre I was comfortable and ran on for another kilometre, then turned back and finished at the play centre after completing 10.1km in 1:15:44.
Special thanks to U2, best of hits on Spotify kept me going. I crossed the line listening to “It’s alright, It’s alright, it’s alright, she moves in mysterious ways.” Although I’m not a she, I felt I moved in mysterious ways. Never stopped, 10 k done for the first time.

Thanks so much everyone. As with the C25K plan I learnt so much from reading this forum. I had been running 7km once a week for the past few weeks. I had only planned to add 1km on to the run today to bring me up to 8k. But I knew my boys would not be ready to go home and as I was feeling ok I thought, hey let’s just go for it.
Well done! The first 10k is special. I ran 10k today on the exact same route I did my first one and I kept thinking about that first run. It's such a good distance!
