Well, after 10 days on the Injury Couch (including not even walking the dog the first few days) my foot injury had cleared up enough that I decided to head off to Erddig for the parkrun this morning.... Lovely day for it, a little cold to start with; rather than a programme run I decided to just load up C25k+ Stamina and see how I got on.
Within the first five minutes I started to grin with the sheer pleasure of being out running again, and while I didn't manage to run all the way, I did make it most of the way up the final hill and finished in 35:56 - about 30 seconds slower than my course PB. And I have to say, it feels fantastic!
Only thing now will be seeing how long it takes for me to get back up with the programme runs - I think I'll still do them, but not worry too much about keeping up with the pace for a week or so, and see how I get on. And it's an ill wind that blows nobody any good - had I still been doing the Rodbaston 10K in three weeks time, I'd be worrying about whether I would be ready - instead, aiming for November gives me plenty of time to make sure I'm back on track!
