Achilles problems

Hi all - has anyone any experience of Achilles tendon problems? I am struggling with my left tendon and was wondering if anyone had used any exercise programmes to resolve - and how long this takes. I'm still running but have cut right back on distances and am getting quite frustrated!

Any insights much appreciated

Sorry haven't had that but I know lots of people here have so hopefully someone will be along to give you some guidance.

If you put Achilles in the search box here and on the C25K site you'll probably get loads of posts on this.

I hope you get it sorted soon.

Yes, sadly I did. I am not a doctor but, frustrating as it is, rest is probably required. My Achilles problems stemmed from very flat feet. I did have insoles but they were not enough, and the first time I did C25k I kept running and ended up limping and in pain. I had to stop for 6 months. I got new insoles and physio. Once the leg and foot stopped being in such pain, I was given eccentric exercises - heel drops, and I continue to do them 2 years later. It seems to have done the trick, though I always feel my right tendon. The eccentric exercises can be seen on YouTube but as I said I am not a doctor or physio and I'm sure you would do better to seek their advice.

Good luck.

Yes, I had achilles tendonitis last year. I tried all the calf raises, eccentric heel drops etc, but frankly I didn't feel they were doing me much good. Lots do swear by them though...I had about 6 weeks off, then started back gently with C25K, i session from each week until I got to week 5.

That's really helpful thank you I am doing the heel drops icing - I will rest for a week or so and try gentle running just as you did.
