As a new graduate runner I'm going to take a few weeks running 5k and getting comfortable at this distance before taking it further
New graduate runner: As a new graduate runner... - Bridge to 10K
New graduate runner
Me too, I think that was the best piece of advice I got from Bluebirdrunner recent post. I've done only one 5k so tomorrow's challengette is to see if I can do another....
Good for you. Have fun 🙂
Good idea to get the miles on the legs. Happy running
Sounds like a plan rolysmate...you've done brilliantly...you've been a massive influence on my runs...especially the stick chasing!!!! It won't be long before you're doing 10k...I just know it!!!
It'll come and I'm sure you wont be far behind me
That sounds like a great idea, it will help you find your inner runner and gives you time to see what Sort of runner you are going to evolve into. There are so many options.
Good plan. You might want to mix things up a bit though. Just running 5k x 3 can be a bit boring and having left the structure of the programme, it is easy to lose your way....
Good plan, you could chuck in some gentle intervals to mix it up. Good luck on the 9th!
I think that's the best route. Too many try to rush into increasing distance straight away. Spend a few weeks just running regularly. You will find that over this time you will learn more about pace and you will naturally get faster as your stamina and endurance builds.
As suggested, you can try new things out. Speed runs, tempo, interval, etc. but I would get a few weeks (couple of months) under my belt first.
Personally, although I joined this group, I'm still running 5k exclusively. Maybe next spring when I am a better 5k runner I might want to increase the distance. But for now 5k is enough, and is is a manageable commitment around my life.
Good luck with all you do. Whatever your future running ambitions, I'm sure you'll be great.
Consolidation is the thing
