Today, after some very good news in the family (after 2 deaths in the family in the last 2 months) I went out for a run along the canal towpath and back. I stopped about halfway to talk to a friend walking her dog (about 2 minutes I think). Anyway, my time (including the chat) was on!y just outside my Parkrun time on Saturday, which was a PB. I did week 1 of Sami Murphy though stopped short of the 40 minutes. Previously I'd got to week 5 & 8k. Time to try to build up the distance again! πŸ˜€

Running is so good for helping in times of distress. It gives you some head space πŸ™‚

Good old Sami! I hardly ever leave home without her πŸ˜ƒβœ”οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸ‘

Thanks, yes mw. Unfortunately I hadn't had much running time over the last couple of weeks, but I do feel that I'm back to it now πŸ˜„

Thanks Peggy. How's your running going?

in reply to Joy57

Hi joy ! Well not too bad ! I'm still running 3 times a week, doing 2 short runs 5 to 6k and one long run aiming to get 10k. So at the moment I've managed 8k. Slow but sure and my speed is improving. All in all I'm still enjoying it all.

Where I live there is a lot of hills and inclines so I have to go with what I have. However the views and scenery is fab and I wouldn't want it any other way. I'm May I am aiming to run 10k in a running festival here in Herefordshire so that will be fab I'm sure, and I shall do some park runs as well.

Hope you're running is still good for you? πŸ˜„πŸ˜„x

That's great! I'm envious of your 8k, I'd like to get back there. Did a Parkrun today, a different one, at close to my PB so I'm happy!

in reply to Joy57

Oh joy don't be envious I'm sure your getting there ! What is your PB? Some days it just seems to be so much slower to get to your goal don't you think and then other times everything seems to fall into place. However I have lost half a stone so that's progress too.

Happy running! πŸ˜„πŸ˜„

It's 36:32. I have about half a stone to lose, some of it put on recently on holiday in Norfolk. However my clothes still fit as well (some better - must be change of shape due to running I think) so I'm not that bothered about the scales πŸ˜„

in reply to Joy57

Yes my clothes still fit too and I came to the same conclusion as you about some fitting better now due to the running. So it certainly helping with weight loss for me.

That's a fab PB ! Mine is 40 still finding its taking ages to get below.

I put it down to my age 59 ha! but I think really I have to try harder.

I'd be quite happy with 39 ( that's for 5k mind you). So that's my on going goal.

I've ran 8k in 1 hour 9 mins so that's not to bad me thinks.

Anyhoo!

Happy running Joy!πŸ˜„πŸ˜„x

My rational mind isn't bothered about PBs, I'm just pleased I can get round, but my over-achieving streak wants to get to 30 minutes. Not sure that'll ever happen though πŸ˜„

in reply to Joy57

Yes I do get where you're coming from. I'm just pleased that I get round too!

Tomorrow I'm doing my long run of the week and hope to get over 8k .....well that's the theory of it,the practice of it could be slightly different ! ha! ha! .

Happy running !πŸ˜€πŸ˜€

Thanks Floss. You realise of course that Joy is not my real name (as I'm sure you're not really called Oldfloss) - it's part of my middle name, and also what I hoped I'd gain from running! That's certainly come true :)

No,,, not Floss... in fact, one of my past posts actually gives my real name ! :)

Joy.. that is what it is all about ! :) x

Such a positive post. Sorry to hear you have had such recent bad news but it sounds like you are in a good place right now. Life does get in the way of our running journey but I am sure you will build back up easily. Onwards and upwards!

Thanks rfd! I'm thinking about another Parkrun tomorrow, might try a different one... :)

in reply to Joy57

Sadly I am on oncall tomorrow so no parkrun for me. They may change the route next weekend which I aim to try. Enjoy some parkrun tourism, you might get another pb!
