Treadmill recommendation?

I have (happily) got to the point of running three sessions a week, from 6-11k (depending on how I feel!). I have never run on a treadmill before, but as I live in a snowy part of the world I have decided I need to buy one in order to get through the winter. I will put it in the garage or cellar (don't have loads of free space). I am aiming to buy from eBay as I'm sure there are bargains to be had there.

Does anyone have any recommendations on what I should aim for? I certainly don't have an unlimited budget, but don't want to buy one thats too "Mickey Mouse" for my running, if you get what I mean. I'm not a pro, but don't want to buy something that won't allow me to run the way I run.

Does anyone have a recommendation?

Thanks so much!!

If I had the space I would definitely buy a treadmill - for winter use mainly.

Again, the treadmill market is a minefield, prices range from 100 to 3000+.

I once bought a little fold up treadmill, unpowered, the belt moved through your foot movement. I only walked on it and it did work and it was quite hard work.

I do use the treadmill at the gym regularly and it is fine, but it is a beast of a machine so is not hours or garage friendly I would imagine.

Have a look here (american site I think) topfitnessmag.com/treadmill...

Also, if you know anybody who has a treadmill they may have some tips for buying - secondhand will definitely save you money!!!
