I'd stepped up to 35 mins for my last 2 runs and last night decided to go for it. Took over 42 mins but brilliant to hear the magical word 5k from my map my run. It doesn't feel as though I'm running as slowly as I am but didn't manage to get my splits below 8 mins last night. Will keep running every second night and challenging myself.

Well done - I think my first 5k was 39 minutes so not that different. It is all marginal gains at this stage, build stamina and maybe, just maybe, the time will come down (but I am still on that particular challenge).
