Thank you, you fabulous peeps, Wowsers, that was a hot one, registered 27c on my garmin, in full sun most of the time. But did run/walk - probably more walk than run π, I took my bottle belt and a little water spray bottle which was just fab, to spray on my glowing face......and offered to several other ladies around me.....
several people in over 500 runners got caught by the heat, sadly one got carted off in the air ambulance, I hope it was just heat exhaustion, serious though that is, can be fixed with a bit of tlc....organisation was excellent, loads of water, first aiders etc., great marshals....
Hope yours went well Irishprincess , and aliboo70 , and anyone else venturing out in the furnace......scorchio!
Rehydrating, vitamins and minerals now, gonna have a well deserved BBQ later and maybe a little bit of fizz......π πΎ
No news yet, they actually ran out of first aiders towards the end, and did the 'is there a doctor in the house' call, luckily there's a lot of health workers, nurses, GP's in the running family, so they did get enough to go round, everyone was looked after.
The person that got whisked off, didn't disappear really quickly, so hopefully they were more or less sorted, and going for 'just to be safe'
I'm hoping we'll get a general update on the run Facebook page, just a 'everyone was ok' would be good, fingers crossed.
Well done Madge , hope youre having a well deserved rest . Blimey, hats off to you , it was 27 degrees here too but my Garmin said 23 . It was fibbing xxx
Phewee! Not sure I'd do that again, not really a 'run' , soooo hot, but the organisation was fab, well done you too pops, a toughie out there for everyone today....
It's all learning isn't it π And I had a calorie deficit, so the ice cream had to be had.....π
Take care..it was warm here this morning on my run, and that is in North Wales... enjoy your run..... and bring home that BLING!!!! xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Good luck IrishPrincess and stay cool - hope you can stay out of direct sun as much as possible and have an enjoyable race. What a day for it!
Excellent. Good luck Irish Princess (not that you need it!). Hope your skies are blue, as over in NI in the West, it is cloudy and the heat is more oppressive and clammy/
Off topic, we were told at out local Parkrun yesterday that a group of runners are attempting to do all 24 Northern Ireland Parkrun courses in 24 hours next weekend - well next Sat through to Sunday morning, I can't envisage how they will do it - factoring in travelling between the towns.
