Too darn hot.....

Tuesday's 4x1km intervals were fun in a way, I deliberately went out quite late (after 9pm!) and generally felt good - went down the canal, and while interval 3 was slightly slower than the target pace of 6:40/km it was also the one that involved all of the going back uphill along a flight of 5 locks! Felt really good when I finished.

I was due to do the 3x1.6km intervals yesterday, but with my OH needing to be out early (like 7am), it was going to potentially have to be yesterday evening - and as even at 9:30 it was still about 23 according to the car I decided discretion was the better part of valour. Instead I turned out this morning about 7:45, this time going the other way along the canal.

According to my weather app it was about 16 - all I can say is that it felt a fair bit higher than that.... add in that I had forgotten to take my hayfever tablet and this does not go down as a great run. I just about did the intervals at the pace needed, but the recovery times and warmdown were mainly walking rather than 8:00/km jogging. I know this is a step up with the longer intervals, but by gum it felt hard this morning.

I'd wondered about doing parkrun tomorrow - I may have to think again as I think I will really need the recovery time.....

I think it will be a hot parkrun tomorrow, if you're struggling today maybe good idea to skip it. Although maybe you just really needed those hayfever pills? Do you regularly run every day? I've still never run 2 days in a row...

I have very occasionally done back to back runs, but not as strenuous.... have managed a two Mile walk with the dog though, so if I feel ok later I may do it - due to be rain here in the morning as well! It's more about not wanting to push things too fast too soon, but I'll see how I feel later - a good night's sleep and I may be raring to go!

Supposed to be up near 20deg at 9am tomorrow, yes warm, but doable for 5k..

We're supposed to have some thunder storms tonight so maybe that might clear the air a bit. It's dire out there. I hate the heat ☹️

I ran after tea yesterday but it was so hot that I had to keep stopping to take a drink and catch my breath. I was ok for the first 4k but after that it was really wearing. I was glad I wasn't going further than 8K, or I think I would have called it a day. Never done that before!

Well. what a difference 8 hours sleep and a Hayfever tablet makes! I did the Parkrun, set a course PB of 36:08, and actually felt I'd run within myself - I even got partway up the hill at the end, and was chatting a bit to people on the way round....

My husband loves this. Only bit of the film he's interested in 😊

It's cooler here today, and I hope it is wherever you are. I am not running though. Typical 😞

I will mostly be walking dogs

I like going out later in the evening when it's cooler. The streets are less busy too.

In case you hadn't realised, I tend to stick the odd musical reference in, and this was exactly what I had in mind when I posted it! If you look back over my posts you'll see titles including "Moving on up", "Take me to the river", "flowers in the rain", "Running up that hill", "Mud, mud, glorious mud", "Push the button".... :-)
