Week 3 Run 3: "Today you'll do a 40 minute steady run."

I sometimes feel like I'm over doing it when I've got my 5k-10K app, MapMyFitness, and an audio play all going at once. But I was glad of it today as I ended up carrying my phone in my hand and managed to pause both the fitness apps at separate points - one of them twice😳 - so only knew when to stop because I started BBC iPlayer as I set out on my 5 minute warm up.

Really enjoyed my run - even though I misjudged my route and had to run a fair amount of pavement toward the end, which I find very hard on my knees. I was surprised to see quite a few runners heading towards me, en masse, at the beginning, but then I realised it was Tuesday and they were all members of the local running club. I also met a cluster of walkers soon after I'd started. I met the walkers again when I was nearly home, and they all genuinely told me I'd done really well to run the loop that I had in the time that they'd walked from where I'd seen them last. It's really nice to have that kind of input from total strangers 🙂

I met a man and his dog twice on a very speedy walk last weekend "You're a lot faster than us" he exclaimed. Makes you feel good!

It is nice to be encouraged :)

I know what you mean about being overloaded with tech as well, although you have to go with whatever works for you. I run with my Fitbit, Garmin and Strava on the go, and I'm just charging up my MP3 player for a planned long run :D

I try to only use audio for the long runs these days. But I always have at least the training app and the tracking app on.

I really can't cope with carrying my phone - I carry it round in a bum bag. With a generous supply of tissues.

Because I normally run with at least one dog, my phone is normally in the pocket of the waist belt I wear. Or stuffed in my sports bra (bad habit). But I left the dog indoors as it was so hot and I was wearing the wrong bra. Carrying it was okay, but I'd rather not do it often.

All that tech sounds complicated, well for me anyway! I use Runkeeper and find it really good. It will even pause automatically if I stop running which is handy.

I can tell MapmyFitness to autopause, but I tend to only do that now if I'm walking after I noticed a friend's autopausing when we had to negotiate a flight of steps one day. We were definetly not stationary, I was holding back her dogs so she didn't go head over heels!
