I am about to complete C25K, in a couple of weeks time and need a training programme to get me from 5 to 10 k. Has anyone got any plans suitable for a fat 50 year old? All help gratefully accepted!

It's up to you whether you feel you really need a plan, and whether the 'fat' aspect is something you want to address too? After finishing c25k I went over to the other side (aka the weight loss forum) and did the nhs 12 week weight loss plan. Gradually losing the excess weight and gradually increasing time/distance got me to 10k. But maybe you just really want another plan. How about the one ju-ju- put together. I think it's in the pinned posts on here. Or look into things like endomondo and myasics...?
Thanks for the advice, I'll look up your suggestions. I've decided to do the running and let the weight take care of itself. Thanks again👍
Nothing wrong with that. Running is good for so many things. I looked up ju-ju's plan. It's in the pinned posts in separate parts - called "c25k to 10k". Good luck
Great target to go for the 10K...
But letting the weight take care of itself...it might take care of itself too much and make it harder for you to realise your goal ? You choice...but maybe worth thinking about?
Don't get me wrong, I have knocked alcohol on the head and am trying to eat less rubbish, but I'm not calorie counting or any of that malarkey. I just need a plan, or experience tells me I'll struggle. Thanks for the advice😃
Sami Murphy worked for me
I'm doing active 5-10K but have to say I've found it tough going after finding getting to 5k in 30 minutes not too bad. I'm taking it slow, repeating weeks or runs but it's definitely a challenge.
I used Sami Murphy but didn't run to Sami three times a week. I did one, sometimes two runs to her a week, and shorter runs alongside. I then just extended a little each week with an eye on a Myasics plan, until I knew I could do the 10k It took me 6 months after graduation to get to 10k, but I had 5 weeks offf on the injury couch and so had to rebuild from there.
I still carry extra weight, which makes it harder I'm sure, but I am continuing to shrink!
Sami is a kick ass kinda gal. Loads of free tracks. It's great 👍
I used sami Murphy too but found that doing more than one of her runs a week meant my weekly mileage increase (the rule about not going up by more than 10%) was too much, so I did 1 same Murphy run as my long run not worrying about pace but going for time and distance, then one 5k run a week at a fast pace (this could be parkrun if i made it along) then my 3rd run I'd do intervals or hills or something to keep me interested. Good luck! I signed up to an asics plan also which looked good but didn't stick to it.
Brilliant, that's a great help. Thanks for the info! Sounds like Sami is the main woman then. I'll give her a go👍
