A couple of weeks ago I ran a HM at an average 6:40 mins per K. This morning I struggled to run 4K at 7:20 mins per k !!! I had a flu injection on Sunday - haven't felt any side effects but wondering if??????
This running game is strange!!: A couple of... - Bridge to 10K
This running game is strange!!
Flu vaccines cause antibodies to develop in the body - it takes about two weeks from the time of vaccination for the process to be completed. So what you are experiencing is probably just natural tiredness due to the fact that your body's immune system has been put to work.
There were a couple of similar post in our flu season Bazza. Its likely to be as Iben says.
Good to get the jab though! 👍🏼
Our bodies are odd things though. Sometimes it's a real slog and at other times, although you're feeling exactly the same, it's the same time of day etc, you'll suddenly be a lot faster.
I'm beginning to think winter slows me down.
Winter definitely slows me down too. Don't underestimate the effect of that jab. Also remember the difference between running alone and running at an event. All sorts of factors could be at play
Would put it down to the vaccine.
I had a run like that last week (no flu vaccine to blame), where it was a miserable slog to get round what is usually a comfortable route. I put it down to interrupted sleep the night before and thankfully things are back to normal this week...
