I am enjoying getting back to my running after a short break for a small op recently and did a 10k on my favourite trails today (although took the first 4K to really settle in to it!😮). I am hoping to do the Great South Run (10 miler) again in October followed by another Half Marathon in November but have decided that over the next couple of months I am going to ease off some of the very long runs and focus a bit more on my 'speed'. This is something I have always been a bit afraid of pushing, if I'm honest. Although I do include quite a few hills in my runs I feel that my pace has just sort of slowly improved rather than as a result of any specific training on my part. I am going to try a little 'fartleking' 😀on my 5k pavement pounder and see if I can improve my 5k time a little. I will continue to run a 10k every other weekend alternating with a something a bit longer in between, depending on how I am feeling! Hopefully this way I will retain a bit of endurance for when I start to increase my runs at the end of the summer. Sounds like a plan, eh? I took the photos on a walk yesterday when I was showing my family some of my trail routes... (lucky them!) but also ran here today.🙂 Happy running🙂

Wonderful views you have there - especially the bluebell wood!
You sound as if you are getting on really well with your running. I'm still at the "dogged endurance" stage, but I also need to work on my speed as I am shockingly slow.
It's great to see that there is life after a HM - thanks for posting.

Woods full of bluebells, must be heaven to run through with the smells and sight of all that colour! 😎
Sounds s terrific plan Sandra. Lovely photos!

That does look lovely.
Great plan, Sandra. I think the risk of injury (and boredom) is much lower if you vary your training! And what a lovely photo with the bluebells ❤️

Always good to have a plan! lovely photos, looks a great place to run. I need to do some homework on fartleks...... !
Good luck with your refocus on speed. That narrow trail through the bumpy grass looks familiar. I took my boyfriend for a walk in one of my trail-y areas to see the bluebells yesterday too. It's a perfect time of year to get the non-runners out to see things we enjoy all year round

Beautiful photos, Sandra! Your plan sounds good as well. We can't focus on speed and distance at the same time, after all (well, I can't!) and you have done brilliantly with your distance.

Sounds like a good plan Sandra. Your routes look so like mine I had to do a double take 😊 but your bluebells are further along than mine 🤗

That looks very inviting? I was in the car yesterday, as a passenger, and spied bluebells. I wanted to get out and explore. They drawn you in don't they 😃
Trail runs are great, and present fartlekking potential to help you with your speed work. Trail running, with its many undulations helps with your endurance
